2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 18: '70s Disaster Week Had a good time with this one, and the cast and flashy camera work (especially that looooooong opening shot) make it worth a watch even if the plot doesn't always add up. I need to check out a few more movies with Richard Harris as an action lead, because I found him surprisingly effective here. Although the actual quarantine subplot (which has not aged well for 2021, and hamfistedly compares sensible public health measures to the Holocaust) and ensuing bridge disaster scenes are maybe my least favorite things about the movie, I have to hand it to George P. Cosmatos for making the rare '70s disaster film that actually moves along at a nice pace and doesn't feel like a ponderous all-day affair.
