2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 29: CHARLES BRONSON WEEK This ended up being very different than what I would have expected. Based on this, I feel like as a director Michael Winner is a lot better at depicting stylized cat-and-mouse games among elite criminals than the ostensibly more grounded/realistic stuff in his "Death Wish" movies. There's also a very noticeable gay subtext to the interplay between Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent's characters; It makes me curious to know if there's anything in the remake with Jason Statham that nods to any of that, and to what degree it was a conscious thing in the original.
