HOOPTOBER OCHO NIGHT TWENTY-EIGHT + 2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 43: ZOMBIE WEEK This was mainly good on a camp level, with only Fred Gwynne escaping with any of his dignity left intact. Dale Midkiff goes through the entire movie seeming like he's operating on a 2-second delay from the rest of the cast, which would be a perfectly valid acting choice for a grief-stricken dad with a secret, but he's like that from the beginning. Denise Crosby seems like barely a participant in all of this, but I imagine that's probably the fault of the script and book more than her acting per se. I think the main thing standing in the way of this being more creepy and effective was the direction and editing, which felt more oriented around goofy comedy beats and playing up Midkiff and Crosby's astounding parental negligence than anything that really engages with the reality of loss.
