HOOPTOBER OCHO NIGHT THIRTY-THREE + 2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 44: SHOCK THEATER WEEK Feels like a pretty generic Gothic thriller where somebody crossed out the antagonist's name and wrote in "ALUCARD" as a replacement. Even the noticeably snazzier vampire bat-transformation effects in this movie can't overcome the leaden presence of Lon Chaney, Jr. as Drac Junior. In watching all of these old Universal horror movies, I keep waiting to stumble upon the one that justifies his place as a stalwart horror actor. And so far everything I've seen just makes it seem like he was coasting on his family name, which is pretty disappointing.
