2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 45: FILM NOIR WEEK Oh hey, it's the *other* 1950s thriller where Shelley Winters drowns because she gets too close to a narcissistic sociopath. I'm not altogether sure whether the movie wanted us to sympathize with Clift's character to any particular degree. But either way it's chilling to see how close this movie comes to letting him get away with all of it, in the guise of a love conquers all ending.
