2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 49: PAM GRIER WEEK This was my first time watching this one all the way through since its original release. In addition to the excellent performances by Grier, Jackson, and the late Robert Forster, I also appreciated how Tarantino keeps the plot on a simmer here, letting his characters' interactions build the tension instead of around more contrived setpieces. I kind of wish that Tarantino had stayed in this mode as a filmmaker, making Elmore Leonardesque paperback-noir character pieces instead of the wilder exploitation-tinged extravaganzas he's been doing since KILL BILL.
