HOOPTOBER NINE! NIGHT THREE! Maybe not as much of an immediate home run as X, but there's a lot to like here, specifically Mia Goth's arresting performance, as well as the artful re-envisioning of the previous movie's world. I have a feeling that some of the bits that didn't land for me the first time through will probably grow on me on a rewatch. But for what it's worth this merits a watch both for people who enjoyed X, and as a stylistic exercise in imagining an alternate world where the visual language of splatter films intruded upon the big Technicolor melodramas of the '40s and '50s.
