HOOPTOBER NINE! NIGHT TWELVE! Watched the director's cut and definitely saw what GDT was going for, but couldn't quite hack the visual monotony once they got into the underground setting. GDT is pretty clear about this being a movie that was at least partially taken out of his hands by the studio, and the director's cut only alleviates some of the flattening, but ultimately it feels a bit half-baked compared to what he would do later on. It might be worth revisiting in a year or two to see how I feel about it, but I didn't feel like this was a forgotten gem in GDT's back catalogue.
