Do not be taken in by the big names on the marquee, this meandering, sloppy film offers little in the way of payoff, with the possible exception of the character Shelley Winters played, one that was truly dispensable from a plot standpoint. By the end it broke nearly all the promises it dangled before the audience. It was one of a slew of ocean-themed films from the 1970s produced cheaply in Italy just to shake a few dollars out of the pockets of audiences who had seen Jaws. I'm giving it a low rating just in comparison of other crummy films I've watched recently, to keep them honest, but if you watch low grade monster movies to mock you might still end up having a good time with this one.
