Schrader injects a bit of humanity and humor into an otherwise dark and seedy story. George Cool Scott gives a fantastic performance as a father searching for his runaway daughter. His time spent hopping from city to city with Season Hubley was super-endearing. Loved that it starts as a Christmas movie set in Grand Rapids and ends as a summertime sleaze in San Francisco. The score rips - Nietzsche never sounded better!
