I like that the movie starts right in the middle of things, no need to tell us how we got there. I like that we get Paul's and Chris's flashbacks but not Rita's, we just have to take her at her word. I like that the movie starts and ends with a score by not-that-Brian May that is both completely normal and fitting, but the middle 60% is kinda just "Brian left the room with his synth arpeggiating and then his cat walked across the keys of his Moog". I like that 75% of the film's budget went to explosives. I like that they had good enough makeup and effects to convincingly have a machete go through a head and have arrows piercing limbs, but that the costume department couldn't get sleeves on a shirt that would better hide the fists of a guy whose hands were chopped off (spoilers). And as quickly as we're plopped into the middle of the world of the movie, it ends; we're just left to imagine what might happen next.
