查克的一生 - 评论

A lot of people are really going to like this movie. It's well made, and a mostly enjoyable watch but, at times, a little too schmaltz, a little too saccharine; sort of an uplifting I'm Thinking of Ending Things, or perhaps a modern day Big Fish of sorts. (And I find the MPAA in the U.S. curious. So far as I can tell, other than a few "Fucks", this is an entirely inoffensive and wholesome movie, undeserving of an R rating. Cut those out (and maybe the Pornhub mention?) and this could've been PG-13. I suppose an R gives adults an idea that there could be something more...adult?...here and a PG-13 might keep them away, but then a PG-13 means parents would be able to drop the kids off at the theatre on a hot summer day without having the obligation to escort them and then potentially more people could go and see it? I don't know. A delicate balance, that.) (also, this came to mind) It's fine.
