This list is based on my personal feelings, preferences, and sentimentality at the time of writing. If this was a list about which 100 games I think are the best ones in general it would look very different.

I've never made a favorite games list before. The exercise has always been very difficult and daunting for me. My personal opinions tend to be fairly liquid, so identifying favorites is a lot closer to trying to lasso in moving targets than not. I did my best to try ordering the list in terms of which games elicit a stronger sense of connection with me near the top, as well as which ones I tend to think of more readily when remembering stuff that I like.

I'm mostly happy with the result. Some things could naturally get moved around still, and a few could potentially even get bumped off in favor of something I enjoy more popping up into my memory again.

  《异域镇魂曲》作为Gamespot和Computer Gaming World联合评选出的,1999年最佳游戏编剧和年度角色扮演游戏,是续“博德之门”后由Interplay出品的第二款标准的基于TSR的《龙与地下城》系列的角色扮演游戏,这款1999年最佳RPG由著名的Black Isle小组操刀制作,该小组同时也是1997年最佳RPG游戏“辐射”和1998年最佳RPG游戏“博德之门”的制作者。

BananaSundae: Torment is all about the mystery surrounding the amnesiac main character's past and identity, plus big themes about the nature of belief and self. Almost every part of the game (sidequests, items, NPCs, companions, the main quest, leveling up, etc.) ties back into the mystery and the themes of the game. Game has very strong creative integrity (like architectural integrity, not the honesty kind) because of this. The combat is average to mediocre, which is the main criticism people throw at it, but that's why you don't really want to play Torment like a normal CRPG (even though it's built off of DnD 2e, like Baldur's Gate 1/2). It plays more like a CRPG/Adventure/Visual Novel hybrid where you can often use a jacked up Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma stat in combination with thoughtful navigation of conversations with NPCs to get around most challenges. Really unique and unconventional game that also has some of the best writing in the medium (not all 100% of it is great writing, but significant portions are).

BananaSundae: One of the best games of all time for good reason. A perfect intersection of action, B-movie humor, horror elements, and kinetic gameplay. Rare to have a third-person shooter that forces the player to hold position while aiming and firing, but rewards quick and thoughtful locational damage with consistent opportunities to rush in for melee attacks.

BananaSundae: Very ambitious of me to place this game so highly on this list. I was surprised that it got here, but it makes sense the more I reflect on it. There's an absurd amount of character building possibilities within Wrath's systems and some interesting pulp writing that goes beyond what most RPGs attempt when it comes to making choices and character creation decisions meaningful throughout the campaign. It also has so many frivolous combat encounters to fill out its many areas that it can get tedious to kill the enemies after a while. It's definitely flawed but also unique among most RPGs I've played, especially modern ones. It resonates with some part of me that allows me to forgive its shortcomings consistently, even as I recognize them. If I ever complete this behemoth in full it could very well drop way down on this list, should I encounter enough things that bother me. But that hasn't happened yet.

BananaSundae: Gorgeous design achievement that I doubt Bethesda will ever match, much less exceed. One of the only open world games that I feel takes full or nearly full advantage of all of its elements to justify the size and scope. Everything you do in Morrowind contributes to making your character stronger in some way (even just walking around a lot). You start very weak and suck at combat, but eventually will become very strong, as is the fantasy of RPGs in general. Morrowind's big appeal to me is how your character's need to learn and discover things about the lore, history, and cultures of this strange world mirrors your real world skill growth and improvement at understanding the game's systems. It's a game all about discovery and self-improvement in every facet of your character and you as the player, especially on the very first full playthrough.

《寂静岭》(日语:サイレントヒル,英语:Silent Hill,台港译作“沉默之丘”,香港又译“鬼魅山房”)是由Team Silent制作,科乐美公司发行的一款PlayStation平台上的恐怖生存游戏,也是寂静岭系列的第一部作品。游戏在1999年1月于北美发售,随后于日本与欧洲发售。游戏使用了第三人称视角与即时演算技术。由于机能限制,开发商只能使用大量迷雾和黑暗效果,以弥补画面上的缺陷。游戏主角不像以前恐怖游戏的主角那样进行过格斗训练,而像是一位“普通人”。[2]

本游戏主要讲述了作家哈利·梅森,为了寻找他失踪的养女,在寂静岭小镇中四处探索的故事。其中主角被卷入一个能够唤醒神灵的邪教仪式,同时哈利也终于知道了女儿的真实身份。视乎玩家的选择,游戏共有五个结局,包括一个有恶搞趣味的结局。

本游戏销售成功且受到高度评价,评论者普遍认为本游戏是恐怖游戏中的代表作品,并且指出之所以游戏的风格不像B级片中的风格,是因为游戏营造了一种发自内心的恐怖气氛。
BananaSundae: Many fans prefer SH2 or SH3 over the original, but Silent Hill remains the most affecting and significant of its series to me. It is by far the most surreal and nightmarish entry, taking the physical environment of the town itself into abstract zones of negative space full of disorienting and hellish shadows. A dark poetry in motion. It's biggest weak point to me is how it ultimately wants to explain its own main plot to the player too much by the end. By diffusing the mystery the game loses its power, but fortunately the majority of the experience is excellent.

BananaSundae: A dark and melancholic odyssey in which the themes and story are primarily expressed through gameplay. Dark Souls is about adversity and the will to persist (or not) in a dying world without much hope. Not the best action game or the best RPG or even the hardest game out there (which is an overhyped point of attraction anyway), but a compelling hybrid with lonely atmosphere and more depth than its hack and slash surface suggests.

『スーパードンキーコング2』(スーパードンキーコングツー、SUPER DONKEY KONG 2)は、レアが開発、任天堂が発売したテレビゲームである。スーパードンキーコングシリーズの第2作目。広義には、以下の3作の総称として使われる。なお、日本国外でのタイトル名はDONKEY KONG COUNTRY 2である。
前作に比べ、ギミックの要素の増加や、グラフィックの進歩などが見られる。また、前作ではおまけ程度だったやりこみ要素が練りこまれ、エンディング以降もクレムコイン集めやロストワールドでの腕試し、DKコインを集めて真のゲームヒーローを目指すなど楽しみも増えている。
本項では、本作をイメージして製作されたゲームボーイ用ソフト『ドンキーコングランド』についても扱う。こちらの日本国外のタイトルはDONKEY KONG LAND 2である。
BananaSundae: One of the truly great 2D platformers of the 90s. More ambitious and audacious in its gameplay ideas and pacing of challenge and variety. Like the original DKC, the strongest aspect is the presentation, but DKC2 is a big step up in gameplay, too. Great atmosphere and one of the best soundtracks in the SNES library and among video games overall.

BananaSundae: Not a massive odyssey like Dark Souls, but plays out and presents itself closer to a myth about human weakness, corruption, and morality, which I find just as compelling. More difficult than Dark Souls, but also smaller in scope and somewhat easier to understand in general. Demon's Souls is occasionally quite esoteric, though, which adds to a sense of mystery that I enjoy about it.

BananaSundae: An optimistic journey about friendship and determination in the face of apocalyptic doom. Timeless in its art direction, storytelling, and spirit of adventure. As with most RPGs (and JRPGs especially), those who focus in on the combat mechanics and challenge alone won't see the forest for its trees. Chrono Trigger is about the strength and appeal of the whole experience (setting, exploration, story, music, visuals, combat, etc.), not the strength of any one single element in isolation.

BananaSundae: Is it the best Metroid game? That's the popular belief. This one hasn't always been so highly regarded in my mind, but when we get down to personal preferences, atmosphere, and vibes, I think Super Metroid just manages to edge out my former favorite of Fusion.

这次《寂静岭3》在剧情上也延续优良传统,以人心黑暗冲突为题材进行发挥。在故事中玩家扮演一名平凡的少女Heather,每天都过着稳定平和的生活。但有一次当她前往大卖场买东西时,却不小心进入了代表人心黑暗面的异次元空间,而里面充满了无数恐怖的异形怪物。为了逃出这个充满危机的恐怖世界,Heather必须拿着手枪、穿梭在表里两个不同世界中为求生而奋战。
  音乐和音效很好的渲染出了游戏恐怖的气氛。时不时有种持续的背景噪音让人感到很压抑。而怪物出现的时候,声音总会吓人一大跳。游戏CG里面的歌也很好听,本游戏音效音乐是由Kenji Kawei和Hidenori Onishi制作,保持KONAMI一向的很高的音乐音效水准。
  游戏的主角由2代的男性换成一位柔软的PLMMHeather会让玩家更加担心,也让大家会有种怜香惜玉的感觉。也由于主角是位女性,也不能使用什么重武器,不象2代主角需要更多的去逃避。游戏的场景比较多,有5个大场景,让人觉得不会单调,而各个场景BOSS设定也很有特色,有着不同的攻击方式,需要玩家用不同的策略去击败BOSS。ACT游戏的解迷也是一个重头戏,本游戏的迷题都不怎么困难,如旋转木马的迷题,只要玩家细心点,耐心点注意点各个道具的作用就不难过去。 
  剧情方面游戏的各个部分有及时生成的动画来交代情节,使故事很完整。3代剧情比2代稍弱,2代里有很多情节的伏笔3,环环相扣,有些悬念,而3代就比较象是比较单纯的复仇。
  PC版《寂静岭3》是以PS2版本为基础进行移植,游戏内容完全相同,不过因为玩家可以选择较高档的3D显示卡搭配,所以表现出来的画面表现更胜PS2版一筹,不管是高达1024X768的高解析画面、更逼真的材质贴图、更细腻的光影表现、雾化效果等,呈现出来的恐怖质感让人不寒而栗。
BananaSundae: I'm not convinced that this is the altogether better game than Silent Hill or Silent Hill 2 like some fans are, but I do like Heather Mason as a protagonist and find the intersection of her story, the game's themes, and the familiar disturbing visuals and spaces of Silent Hill to be compelling. Great soundtrack, too.

1996年,英国EIDOS公司推出了一款名为《古墓丽影》(Tomb Raider)的游戏。由当时已经赢得了欧洲年度游戏奖的一个制作小组Core Design开发,当时的游戏首席图像设计师已经厌烦了硬汉加主视点射击风格的游戏,他提出创作一个女性冒险英雄的概念,再加上英国贵族的风格,劳拉(Lara)原型出现了。在当时3D技术还不太成熟的环境下,古墓丽影已经具备了一个成功游戏应该具备的一切,美式风格的女英雄,印第安纳琼斯的历险,加上在当时可谓是极为优秀的3D画面和操作,让这个游戏在发售了没多久就引起了全世界广大游戏玩家的浓厚兴趣,在PS游戏机上甚至卖出了百万份的成绩。
BananaSundae: Tomb Raider is the Yin to Super Mario 64's Yang within the realm of early 3D platformers. Deliberate and tense all the way through, with a fantastic use of space in its level designs.

《融合》是《密特罗德》系列时间线上的正统续作,即第四代,故事情节承接《超级密特罗德》,萨姆丝再次被银河联邦派到 SR388 协助进行科学考察研究,然而自从上次来到这里后 SR388 似乎发生了某些变化……

游戏在画面表现上,剔除掌机尺寸因素,融合的画面更加细腻出色。风格阴暗而有又细腻,通过远近背景层次的巧妙设置,营造了一个空旷、丰富的视觉效果;细节刻画一丝不苟。
BananaSundae: A subversion of Super Metroid's sense of freedom and domination of game spaces. Fusion is claustrophobic, linear, and plays more into the horror of vulnerability as a motivator for reclaiming your power than other entries in the franchise. Notably inspired by The Thing as well as Alien, both in literal and thematic senses.

The Millers began working on Myst in 1991 and released it for the Mac OS computer on September 24, 1993; it was developer Cyan's largest project to date. Remakes and ports of the game have been released for Sega Saturn, PlayStation, 3DO, Microsoft Windows, Atari Jaguar CD, CD-i, AmigaOS, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, iOS, and Nintendo 3DS.
BananaSundae: Beautifully surreal and dreamlike. A nearly immaculate little puzzle box of a game with outstanding atmosphere. Remarkably consistent in its logic, but that logic is an insular system from an alien world that you're expected to be confounded by at first. A game about being a true outsider in a strange land.

Resident Evil is the 2002 remake of the original 1996 video game of the same name featuring various improvements and gameplay overhaul. The game features all-new graphics and sound, and also incorporates gameplay elements from the earlier installments. While the overall plot remained mostly unchanged, several new areas and rooms were added to the game. This remake also features many additional modes, secrets and various endings over the original.

Special forces S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team's helicopter malfunctioned and crashed during their mission, disappearing into the Arklay Mountains. Now, S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team is sent on a mission to investigate a series of murders around Raccoon Forest. Spotting the Bravo team's helicopter, or what's left of it, they land nearby and investigate the surrounding area. Unaware of what they might expect, one member is attacked and devoured by zombified Dobermans. The rest of the team, with a little bit of luck, find shelter in a nearby mansion, not knowing it was probably better to stay out.
BananaSundae: No amount of weird yellow wallpaper aesthetic, B-movie dialogue, and quicker pacing are enough for the original Resident Evil to overcome its mechanically superior remake. The updates in REmake complete the gameplay thesis that the original game proposed back in 1996.

BananaSundae: While many fans will argue that Doom II is superior due to engine updates and the addition of new enemies and weapons, the merits of that game primarily show up in the contributions of generations of fans across countless WADs. Hell on Earth is a wildly inconsistent campaign by id Software that ranges from cool and experimental to half-baked and mediocre, but Doom 1's campaign is nearly flawless in achieving its design goals while also being thematically consistent and excellently paced throughout.

BananaSundae: I'm partial to DMC1's Mallet Island and how well that game realizes its setting in addition to the consistent high quality of the rest of the experience. However, no amount of inconsistency within DMC3 (it has higher highs and some lower lows than DMC1) can prevent it from being the best Devil May Cry entry for me. The operatic tragedy of Dante, Vergil, and Lady. Easily the best gameplay, story, and character moments of the entire series here.

SEGA的名作《飞龙》以RPG的形式推出了,使主人公在天空自由翱翔的同时展开了漫长、壮绝的冒险旅程。不同于一般RPG的是主人公的冒险是骑乘着飞龙进行的,所以玩者大部分的时间都是在空中飞行,而且要与空中的敌人一较高下。由于此作的战斗是一大卖点,同时拥有完全不同于以往RPG节目的战斗模式。
真正的经典大作。   
这是在“飞龙RPG”的冲击下,笔者能发出的唯一感叹。   
事实上,最早的“PANZER DRAGOON”就给人一种意犹未尽的感觉,没有一个完整的概念。而这个RPG,就象一条贯穿血肉的经络,终于把一个壮大悲凉的故事从头至尾的表述出来。 飞龙RPG的基调,一如前两作一样是灰暗的,暗含悲剧式的人生哲理。场景又永远离不开荒漠和山谷,热血之中带着凄凉。衬托情节的CG动画,具有电影般的震撼力量,虽然效果无法与PS相比,但各种滋味却让人回味。(飞龙RPG的开头拥有SS游戏中最长的CG画面,足有20分钟)   
作战方式也是游戏的卖点之一。
“AZEL”采用的是和《格兰蒂亚》一样的半即时作战,即具射击游戏的紧张感,也有RPG升级的乐趣。不过常常是孤军奋战,从另一个方面突出了主角的孤独与寂寞。   
飞龙系列的音乐一直是玩家津津乐道的话题,这次也不例外,气势恢弘的乐章和悲凉的主题相互映衬,堪称游戏之中的上佳之作。   
游戏难度不小,尤其是在迷宫中经常转的晕头转向,找不到出路。笔者曾经3个小时在一个山谷中转悠,那感觉真是欲哭无泪,但好在还是通过了:)   
作为土星的经典系列,“铁甲飞龙RPG”确实为SS划上了一个完美的句号。
BananaSundae: A beautiful, seemingly impossible creation that few ever got to experience or know. A remarkable artistic achievement for games that inexplicably emerged fully intact in the midst of Sega's implosion as a console maker. On some level, Panzer Dragoon Saga is my #1 most loved game even though it isn't the first game on this list. A genuine lost masterpiece of the medium.

BananaSundae: One of the only life sims that's worth a damn. Harvest Moon 64 feels like a slice of life for its endearing and sentimental portrayal of pastoral village and farm life, but even more so for its quick pacing. Days, weeks, and months go by very quickly, enough that task-oriented players with perfectionist streaks are likely to stress out and complain about the lack of time to do everything. But life isn't about being able to do everything, and Harvest Moon 64 understands that. You have to decide what matters to you most with the limited time and energy that you have (figuratively and literally) and pursue them as best you can. Building a successful produce farm, raising prize-winning livestock, wooing and marrying somebody, competing in horse races, being a good friend and neighbor, making memories with others for your photo album. In the end, no matter what the game may critique you on, the only true failure is choosing to do nothing at all with the time that you have.

有别于过去主流的美式恐怖游戏,这款纯正日式风味的恐怖游戏,藉由日系古老阴暗建筑的场景、令人毛骨悚然的背景音效、日本怪谈式的故事背景,加上以鬼魂、幽灵为敌人的设定,一推出立刻引起轰动。柔弱的女性主角,用摄影机(本游戏中的武器)拍照除灵的设计,带给玩家的恐惧感也是无与伦比,甚至当许多玩家针对每一代做出评价时,都不约而同指出《零~ZERO》是系列作当中最恐怖也最难的一款。看,我会被吓到不敢玩果然是有原因的吧(立刻找台阶下)。
BananaSundae: If I ever get around to replaying Fatal Frame 2, maybe it will replace this game on the list. Or at least push it lower. But I've always been partial to the original Fatal Frame over its more celebrated sequels.

One of the best pieces of Japanese Horror within this medium. A rare encounter with Japanese cultural anxiety about the collision of modern society with the horror of forgotten traditions, Shinto rituals, social isolation, and the burden of cultural and familial expectations.
