Considered the best film in the series, Tora-san Meets the Songstress Again marked the second appearance of Asaoka Ruriko as Lily, the club singer whom Tora encountered in Tora-san's Forget Me Not. Love seems to have blossomed between Tora and the now-divorced Lily, but contrary to the beliefs of friends and family, marriage is not on the minds of the lovers.

《男人之苦》第16集,十七歲妙齡少女順子(櫻田淳子飾)找上門,聲稱寅次郎(渥美清飾)是她老豆!幸好寅剛回到柴又的家,得以澄清一切。原來十多年前在山形縣,寅飢寒交迫之際,受過少女母親阿雪的熱飯,一生難忘,自此每年寄錢給阿雪,誰知令順子誤會他就是生父。寅從順子口中得知阿雪去年過了身,傷心不已,遂獨自到山形縣掃墓。當寅得悉阿雪生前埋怨自己沒有學識,所以被男人所騙,一生受苦之後,他馬上立志求學,發奮圖強。回到老家寅記,剛好來了一個考古學研究生的租客禮子〔[木堅]山文枝飾),寅自然把握機會向美人求學。豈料禮子身邊有一個親密的大學教授(小林桂樹飾),他博學多才,狂野豪爽,且一直暗戀禮子……寅在情場再遇大敵。
The sixteenth instalment in the Tora-san series. The seventeen-year-old girl Junko (Sakurada Junko) comes to Tora-san"s house, claiming that Tora-san is her father! Fortunately, Tora-san arrives home and explains everything. Junko has mistaken him as her father because he has always sent money to Junko"s mother, thanking her for her hospitality when he was very desperate in Yamagata about ten years ago. When Junko tells him that her mother has passed away a year ago, he is crushed and determined to visit her mother"s grave... When Tora-san comes back, an archeology student Reiko (Kashiyama Fumie) comes to rent the place, and he takes this opportunity to pursue learning, and love. However, her teacher Keiji is also there, which makes it difficult for Tora-san.

昭和初年,私家侦探鱼冢被一老妇人委托调查被绑架女儿的下落。侦探追查下去,却发现事件和一部消失了的电影《永远的谜》有关,这部电影比号称日本最早起用女性演员,归山敎正的《生之光辉》更早有女演员表演,但被警察禁映而消失。镜头跟著主角深入浅草的游乐区,探索默片年代的戏院,解说的辩士、现场配乐的乐队、放映前的杂耍表演,当年的电影是很“综合”的娱乐…… 完全和电影业无关的新人导演林海象一鸣惊人的处女作,比《星光梦里人》早近三十年采用仿默片的拍法,全部黑白摄影,人物对白全部用字幕卡代替,声轨只有配乐、效果音等,引领观众畅游世纪初的梦工场。
