A documentary film about Martta Koskinen, the last executed woman in Finland during the war in 1943. Martta was a Seamstress who lived in Helsinki during the Second World War. She was one of the post-civil war (in 1918) generation for whom the war had meant a disappointment in the system and failure in unity of the Finnish nation. The legacy of the civil war had left systems of persecution in place for those with socialist ideals. Martta and her fellow revolutionaries were determined to continue the resistance movement although they knew that at worst it could cost their lives. Martta was imprisoned twice before she was shot. She was an idealist, whose seemingly harmless, naive beliefs in peace and justice were the most dangerous traits a person could have at the time.

Jed (19) walks out on his former life, without destination, without explanation, and gets on a train. He ends up by happenstance in a small eastern town in Finland where he soon comes face to face with the daily rigors of independent life. Coping becomes a challenge for him almost to the point of being an obsession. Of all the people in town, Jed seems to constantly run across the prickly and quick-witted Lulu (17). Gradually, without either of them admitting it, their relationship changes from bickering, picking on each other and a battle of wills to friendship, and as can happen, finally to love.

Late 40’s after the war. A young and ambitious civil servant Jussi finds himself being in charge of the environmental permit of a huge nickel and uranium mine in Northern Finland. The Talvivaara mine, led by a charismatic globe trotting visioner Pekka Perä is introducing an entirely new method of collecting minerals whilst creating jobs in one of the poorest areas in Scandinavia. Jussi slowly discovers that he has been led astray by several people and that the new method has serious downsides he did not forsee. The mine is causing environmental hazards that are being hushed down. A new application for another permit is brough to his table by the same mine. Along with the application comes an interesting job offer and a chance of a new beginning. Jussi has to decide whether he will play along and if so, with whom.

Stigu and Ella have a just-sex relationship. Stigu is secretly in love but settles for what he can get because Ella wants nothing more. Tellu and Juhani (80s) have barely anything in common, except a room they share while waiting for death. Their fates change when Tellu and Juhani are chosen for a gene therapy trial, akin to the fountain of youth.
As their bodies get younger, Tellu and Juhani explore the world they thought they had lost forever. While Tellu doesn’t want to think too much about the future, Juhani is forced to reconsider his second chance after his wife, Matilda, passes.
Juhani realizes his newfound youth gives him a chance to turn his childhood dream into reality, as in this changed world, traveling to the stars is no longer impossible. Juhani’s newfound passion for life makes Tellu question her choices. She never considered that her quiet roommate would leave the program and when he does, she is unable to stop her spiral into the hedonism of youth.
Tellu, in her pre-teen body, tells Juhani that she has been approved to rejuvenate further and would need someone to adopt her. Before losing her memories, Tellu tries to reconnect Juhani with his daughter, who has not been able to accept her father’s new youth. Juhani now has to decide whether he should help his friend to erase herself.
