Unaware of his parents, as he was abandoned as a young child, Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky grows up amidst hatred.

Neelu (Mumtaz) is a blind girl in a village. Sameer Rai (Dharmendra), an artist, spots her and wants to give back her eyesight as she lost her eyesight in an accident when she got bumped of by his father in her childhood. Prem Chopra is complexly portrayed, he plays step-brother of Sameer. Sameer's mother wants him to marry Yogeeta Bali but he has fallen in love with the blind girl. Yogeeta Bali and Sameer's mother persuade Neelu to play blind even when she gets back her eyesight to dissuade Sameer to marry a down trodden village girl. They bring along a false husband of Neelu who carries her off into the clutches of Prem Chopra the illegitimate half brother of Sameer. His love interest betrays him and he gets killed. His girlfriend and her dead husband who is actually alive and playing possum to get insurance money try to kill Neelu as she has witnessed Prem chopra's murder. Everything gets resolved in the final climax based on a novel of the same name. The film has many twists and turns.

Inspectors Amar (Dharmendra) and Dayal (Raza Murad) in their attempt to arrest bandit Sher Singh (Amrish Puri),, get injured, Amar survives, but Dayal gets his legs crushed and becomes wheelchair-bound. Later, Amar arrests local politician Jagannath Prasad (Kader Khan), who gets released without being charged while Amar gets reprimanded, and decides to resign. Later, Sher Singh hijacks a bus and holds the passengers as hostages in exchange for 25 of his jailed associates. Dayal's granddaughter, Seema (Mandakini), is amongst them, and Dayal asks Amar for assistance. Amar, along with ex-convict, Qasim Ali (Shatrughan Sinha), and Karan (Karan Kapoor), a drug-dealer, does manage to rescue them but differences crop up among the trio and they part ways. Then Amar finds out that Qasim and Karan have masterminded a plan to facilitate the escape of the 25 convicts, and decides to confront them.

Ravi or "Bunnu" as he's called at home and Sandhya (Chandrakala) are childhood sweethearts despite Ravi being poor, and Sandhya being rich. Sandhya's father, who is a senior official in the Railways is posted to a distant location; Ravi and Sandhya are separated and out of contact. Many years later, Ravi has matured into a strapping young man. Not being rich or influential, Ravi finds it hard to find a job and decides to approach his friend Prakash (played by M. Rajan). Prakash is a happy-go-luck rich kid, whose family runs a large timber factory amid lush jungles, and is only too happy to hire Ravi at a generous salary (Rs.300 per month, although Ravi asks for only Rs.100).

With the passing away of Rajesh's parents, Jagatram undertakes to look after him. He hopes that some day Rajesh will marry his daughter Rekha. He arranges Rajesh's employment with a local hostel, which Rajesh accepts. After being employed, Rajesh finds that his male students are distracted and unable to concentrate on their studies. He decides to investigate further, and finds out that they visit a prostitute named Chandni regularly. He puts a stop to this. And then Jagatram finds out that Rajesh has been frequenting Chandni's place almost every night, under the unbelievable pretext of teaching her to read and write.
