青年维尔（Aki Kaurismäki 饰）整日无所事事，勤于用奉承话儿逗那些大街上的陌生姑娘，有时也从她们手中骗点喝酒的零钱，维尔的主要收入来源于各式朋友、熟人，他用各种谎话借钱之余，也和几个浪荡青年、知识分子流连酒吧，谈论哲学文学的话题。维尔在游乐场偶遇游艺女郎图拉，维尔将她拽走，向她灌输自尊的重要，并表示自己可以担负养家的责任，二人生活到了同一屋檐下，但维尔毫无改变，执着于自己那发表前景并不明朗的写作事业，依靠骗钱与偶发性的盗窃度日。二人终于吵翻，图拉离他而去，当两人再一次在街上相遇，维尔像自己看过的那场新浪潮电影一样，给出了一个荒诞的结局。
本片获1981年芬兰坦佩雷国际短片电影节Risto Jarva奖。

Shot in Portugal, this lyrical documentary is a story of a small mountain village that lives in its own time amidst changes that shape history. The film tells of the past of the village, of the structural changes it has faced, and of men who have to leave the village for long periods of time because of their stonecutting work. When the men are gone, the women rule this village surrounded by snowy mountains, and sheep and cattle wander on once green fields while dogs protect them from the wolves.

关于一场演唱会的电影《Total Balalaika Show》（“Balalaika”是俄罗斯的一种民族乐器，三角形，有三根弦。）。“Total Balalaika Show”这场空前的“合作”演唱会，演出者是“列宁格勒牛仔”和一整支全副军装、成员共有160人的俄罗斯红军合唱团。演唱会于1993年6月12日在 芬兰赫尔辛基的Senate广场举行，总共从芬兰和俄罗斯来了7万名热切的观众。也算是在冷战时期对“和平共处”的一个注解吧。演唱会的歌曲主要是西方摇 滚和俄罗斯民族歌曲的大杂烩，俄罗斯的民族舞者也参加了演出。9 E( Y# [! ~: n4 ^$ U7 c, o1 S5 I

“列宁格勒牛仔”这支乐队，其实是芬兰著名导演Aki Kaurism?ki（阿基·考利斯马基）的发明。“阿基·考利斯马基是一位饮誉国际影坛多年的天才导演，早年曾乾过邮差、洗碗工以及影评人。”1989 年阿基·考利斯马基拍了一部片子《Leningrad Cowboys Go America（列宁格勒牛仔去美国）》，在这部电影里，一支叫做“列宁格勒牛仔”的乐队去美国闯荡。阿基起用了一支现实中的乐队“Sleepy Sleepers”来扮演“列宁格勒牛仔”，另外还加入了Nicky Tesco，此人是英国朋克乐队“The Members”的前成员。就在《列宁格勒牛仔去美国》这部电影完成之后，这支不一般的飞机头乐队“列宁格勒牛仔”也找到了生命力。之后他们就以这个名字 演出、发行唱片等等，很快就大红大紫起来。

Kaurismäki's TV adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's play Les Mains Sales (Dirty Hands) tells the story of Hugo (Matti Pellonpää) who has just been released from prison. Before going to prison, he has worked as a journalist at his party's newspaper. This timid journalist, who uses the pseudonym Raskolnikov, wants to advance in his career and gets his chance when Hoederer (Sulevi Peltola), the leader of the party, has to be eliminated.

A criminal, his friend and his former girlfriend find their lives intertwining with each other.
