作为罗德岛的作者而成为无人不知的水野良，在这部作品中能很明显的看出其背景设定等方面与罗德岛的相似之处，然而，他完全颠覆了在罗德岛中作为勇者和作为魔法师的设定（当然，比起魔法提琴手的BT来还是望尘莫及）该作中的魔法师一反以往乃至正统小说如《龙枪》中魔法师身体虚弱的形象，满身肌肉的龙威毫无身为魔法师在队伍中的自觉，反而在施法时不是施到一半忘了下文去翻书，就是背错了魔法总是把爆破魔法当作其他魔法而炸的自己人到处逃窜，最经常的就是条件反射般用拳头和剑作为第一武器留下其他人在后方作援助，甚至出现了第一回冒险就把魔杖当武器砸向敌人以至于失去了施法道具而在其后的好几回中不能施展法术，总之如果不是动画的题目不是《魔法战士》的话几乎就让人忘记了他的本职是法师。其他人物的搞笑配合在动画中也层出不穷，龙威的古板而又想扬名的魔法学院的导师、梅莉莎的光有漂亮外表只依靠魔剑才能战斗经常被打的只剩内裤裸奔的未婚夫、米蕾儿装钱的罐子和省钱买下的闹鬼的房子等等等等，即使在决战关头也不缺乏幽默的片段。
