Col. Barclay is found dead and his wife is arrested for the murder, but Holmes is convinced a missing door key will reveal the true killer.

An unknown thief steals an important naval treaty from the office of Mr. Percy Phelps, a Foreign Office clerk. Phelps's distress gives him a brain fever that lasts for nine weeks. As he begins to recover, he writes to his old schoolmate, Dr. Watson, begging him to invite Sherlock Holmes to investigate the matter and find the treaty. Otherwise, his honor and happiness are gone forever. Holmes takes up the case with zest, but gives Phelps no false hopes. The mystery is as dark and tangled as any he has known.

A gentleman is baffled when the childish drawings of little dancing men terrify his American wife. Sherlock Holmes soon discovers why.

Sherlock Holmes in investigates the strange case of Jabez Wilson. The man was recently offered employment by an organization known as the Red Headed League. For the grand sum of 4 pounds per week, he was to sit in an office and copy out entries fro an encyclopedia, starting with the letter A. He had responded to an advertisement and while there were many applicants, he has no idea why he was selected as the League's beneficiary. When after several weeks his employment is suddenly terminated, Mr. Wilson doesn't know what think. Holmes quickly deduces however that it was the location of his office as much as his red hair that resulted in him getting the employment in the first place. Written by garykmcd

Sherlock Holmes is hired by the King of Bohemia to retrieve a compromising photograph from a certain lady. The King has tried to purchase the photo and even hired burglars to retrieve it, but without success. The woman in question is the very beautiful Irene Adler, an opera singer. She has made no demands of the King so it does not seem that blackmail is her intent. Using various disguises, Holmes learns as much about the woman as he can and is surprised when, after following her to a church, finds that she has married a barrister. Holmes stages a bit of theatre to get her to divulge the location of the photo but he finds he has met his match in both daring and intellect.

Sherlock Holmes is asked by Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard to assist with a most peculiar case. He has been investigating a series of break-ins in shops and private homes where all that happens is the destruction of a bust of Napoleon. The case includes murder when one of the burglaries also leaves an unidentified dead man on the front steps. Holmes realizes that someone is searching for an article hidden in one of the busts. The horse disappeared in the middle of the night from its stables and with a major race on the horizon its owner, Colonel Ross, is desperate to get his prize possession back. There had been some strange comings and goings the night the horse disappeared including a race tout trying to get inside information on the upcoming race. When the horse's trainer, John Straker, is found dead in a field, this also becomes a murder investigation with the local police less than pleased at Homes' involvement. Written by garykmcd

Set in the 22nd century in New London, Inspector Beth Lestrade of New Scotland Yard is chasing grotesquely deformed French rogue geneticist Martin Fenwick, when she realizes that his companion is none other than the 19th century criminal mastermind, Professor James Moriarty (this is not the original Moriarty but in fact his clone, created from cells taken from his corpse, which Holmes had buried in a Swiss ice cave). Famous biologist Sir Evan Hargreaves (who looks just like Doyle) has just invented cellular rejuvenation. Beth knows that Holmes survived and actually lived to a ripe old age, and further knows that his corpse is preserved in a glass-walled, honey-filled coffin in the basement of New Scotland Yard (this may be both a reference to the legend that Alexander the Great's body was preserved in honey, which does not rot, and also to the fact that, as stated in the original stories by Doyle, Holmes became a beekeeper once he retired). She takes the body from the basement and delivers it to Sir Evan. The biologist then uses his cellular rejuvenation technique to return life and youth to Holmes's body, so that the detective can combat Moriarty.
As a descendant of the original Inspector Lestrade, Beth has inherited Dr. Watson's journals. When she has her law enforcement robot, or compudroid (whom she calls Watson) read them for information about Holmes, it ends up emulating the personality of the good doctor. Holmes also ends up getting his old Baker Street rooms back (they'd been preserved as a museum). Lestrade's compudroid assumes the name, face, voice, and mannerisms of Dr. Watson to assist Holmes in both his crime-solving duties and his difficult assimilation to England in the 22nd century.
During the series, Holmes and Watson often work on retainer for New Scotland Yard, with Beth Lestrade as their supervising officer and Superintendent Greyson as hers, but they also work for private citizens. They are often assisted by the new Baker Street Irregulars: soccer player Wiggins, the Eliza Doolittleish Deidre, and the paraplegic Tennyson (who communicates through electronic beeps only Holmes seems to comprehend ironically). However, Wiggins and Deidre understand and communicate with Tennyson in The Adventure of the Dancing Men. The primary villains are Moriarty and his henchman Fenwick, but they only appear in about half of the episodes.

When Mr. Rucastle finds out that his daughter Alice is engaged to be married, he becomes furious because he knows that control of the family fortune will shift to her under the provisions of his late wife's will. He orders the fiancé out, and when Alice refuses to sign away control of the estate, he locks her in a shed. He intercepts a note from the fiancé arranging a rendezvous near the copper beech trees on the estate. Rucastle hires Violet Hunter as governess to his six year old son. Violet resembles Alice enough that he hopes to convince the fiancé that she is still in the manor house. After he cuts Violet's hair, the suspicious governess enlists Holmes' aid.
