Saweetie has dropped off the remix to her Doja Cat-featuring girl power anthem “Best Friend,” with a new appearance from Stefflon Don.
The Bay Area rapper shared the original song and video back in early January, as a prelude to her forthcoming debut album Pretty B*tch Music. “Best Friend” also followed the arrival of Saweetie’s song “Back to the Streets” with Jhené Aiko and the “Tap In” remix with DaBaby, Post Malone, and Jack Harlow.
As a nod to Saweetie’s lyrics on “Best Friends”—“Is that my bestie in a Tessie?”—she and Doja have launched a Tesla best friend car giveaway, offering fans the chance to win two Tesla Model S cars.
Saweetie has been otherwise occupied with making her acting debut on grown-ish and putting a questionable amount of ranch on her spaghetti.

Saweetie gets active in the cinematic visual for her new song “Fast (Motion).” The new single is yet another lead-up to the West Coast rapper’s heavily anticipated debut album Pretty Bitch Music.
Directed by James Larese, the blockbuster-styled video depicts Saweetie doing everything from winning the World Cup to becoming a giant and playing basketball on the streets of New York. While homages to movies like The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift can be seen plainly, Saweetie also left Easter eggs for some of her favorite Black-owned brands throughout. Brands such as Brandon Blackwood, Matte Swimwear, Mielle Natural Hair Care, Frank’s Bod, and High Hemp can all be seen at some point, and are products Saweetie often uses.
Ahead of the release of “Fast (Motion),” Saweetie joined YouTube Released to give a behind-the-scenes look at how the music video came together.
“Fast (Motion)” follows Saweetie’s EP Pretty Summer Playlist, which featured appearances from Drakeo the Ruler, Kendra Jae, and more. Embodying the sounds associated with the warmer months, Saweetie creates an audible picnic with some of her favorite rap friends who haven’t reached the superstar pinnacle that she has. Saweetie has sampled a Bay Area classic for her new song, "Tap In," as the Cali rapper flips Too Short's 2006 track "Blow the Whistle."
The single is taken from her upcoming album Pretty Bitch Music, which is scheduled to drop sometime later this year. Speaking with Apple Music's Zane Lowe about "Tap In," Saweetie revealed that she got Too Short's blessing for the sample. "I was like, 'What if he doesn't like it?' But then he liked it, so I'm just excited," she said. "I'm so happy that he loves it. I'm so excited for this record. I've been gone for a year, but I really had to focus on my artist development because that was something that I was struggling with."
After taking some time to master her craft a little more, she's gearing up for the release of Pretty Bitch Music. She added that the "bitch" in the title represents an acronym; boss, independent, tough, CEO, and hyphy. The inspiration came from 2Pac and "what he did with Thug Life," she explained.
In teasing the record, which follows her 2019 EP Icy, she said that she has another new song on the way entitled "Saweetie's Workout Plan," and she also has a feature on the album that's very special to her. "Someone who's still relevant today, but hasn't recorded in a long time," she teased, prompting Lowe to guess D'Angelo. "No, I would love that though because he got that voice, but it's not him," she replied.
