故事讲述了商人伯莫死亡，推测他的死因是由于飞机失事，他的妻子丽萨因此发财。保险公司开始对此事进行调查的时候，他们开始怀疑丽萨。他们派出调查员彼得去确定丽萨说的是否属实。后来丽萨死亡，保险金不见，一个又一个的人因此受害，大家将会看到调查员彼得将如何完成自己的任务。

Edwige Fenech 饰演 Julie，一位意大利外交官（Manuel Gill）的妻子。度假回来不久，Julie 听说了系列暴力性犯罪的消息，（“是一名性欲狂吗？”他的司机问警察，答曰：“是的，不过他还用剃刀。”），使她想起了以前的情人Jean （Ivan Rassimov演）以及两人间曾经的狂乱的关系。Jean 在 Julie 参加的一个聚会上出现，并试图界入她的生活。此时，哀求神秘杀手的女受害者越来越多，这其中又有何复杂的联系呢？
此片异常出色，有四个明显原因。首先最重要的是 Fenech 的出色表演。其次是 Martino 富有想象力的导演，在 Julie 和 Jean 性感神秘淫而不乱的两性游戏情节中表现得淋漓尽致，几近巅峰。其三，剧情紧凑丰满，角色表演令故事凝聚有力。最后同样重要的是Nora Orlandi那炫烂悠扬的配乐，加上画面的色彩凝重，镜头的讲究，令人难以忘却。

An unseen killer is murdering people that know too much in connection with an earlier unsolved case of a missing girl. I like the giallo genre, but this one by Tonino Valerii is laid back to the point of being tedious, a few gory set-pieces can't even help this film. The ending is horribly cliché and the film has one scene that featured a fully naked prepubescent girl that repulsed me. There is NO reason to put a nude eleven or twelve year-old in any film. EVER!

Giorgio is a greedy adulterer who makes a deal with a serial killer (Michel Antoine) to dispose of his wealthy wife, Nora. Unfortunately, a thrill-seeking young couple steal the killer's car with Nora's corpse in the trunk, ending up at a run-down seaside villa.

"Los tallos amargos" is a great example of film noir released out of USA. Following the tradition of classic Hollywood (the most brillant time in the history of cinema), this picture tell us the story of a poor journalist who, trying to make easy money, begins to work with an hungarian inmigrant. They start a fake journalism school and soon their pockets are full of dirty money. When the journalist begins to have suspects on your partner, the plot will become most than interesting. A perfect movie, a very good story. A picture that looks like any american film of that time.
