第65届戛纳电影节于2012年5月16日至27日举行，意大利籍电影演员、导演南尼·莫莱蒂被任命为评委会主席。今年收到1779部影片的参展申请，最后选取了26个国家制作的54部长片，其中22部影片角逐戛纳电影节最高奖项金棕榈奖。美国导演韦斯·安德森的新片《月升王国》成为本届电影节开幕影片。闭幕影片为法国著名导演克劳德·米勒执导的《寂寞的心灵》。2012年5月27日，第65届戛纳国际电影节落下帷幕。奥地利导演迈克尔·哈内克凭借电影《爱》摘下金棕榈奖。

第70届戛纳国际电影节（70th Cannes Film Festival）于法国时间2017年5月17日至28日在法国戛纳举办 。
法国时间2017年4月13日，戛纳电影节组委会宣布了第70届戛纳电影节的开幕影片及主竞赛单元的首批片单。电影节组委会在报名参赛的1930部电影中，选出了49部影片，其中18部影片角逐最佳影片金棕榈奖 。
法国时间2017年5月28日（5月29日），鲁本·奥斯特伦德《自由广场》（瑞典）获得最佳影片金棕榈奖；罗宾·卡皮洛《每分钟120击》（法国）获得评委会大奖；妮可·基德曼（美国）获得70周年特别奖。
