克里斯蒂娜（凯萨琳·萨斯 饰）衷心拥护着社会主义东德，她的丈夫已经逃往西德，剩下她一人抚养一对儿女阿丽安娜（玛丽亚·西蒙 饰）和阿历克斯（丹尼尔·布鲁赫 饰）。1989年，阿历克斯上街游行被捕，母亲目睹了这一幕，心脏病发晕倒过去，不省人事了好一段时间。 当她醒来，她熟悉的国家已经改变——柏林墙推倒，民主德国的社会主义也随之瓦解。医生说，克里斯蒂娜不能再受刺激了。于是儿子想方设法营造一个过往的世界给母亲。母亲因此得以活在过去的民主德国里：包括邻居的衣饰，电视的新闻，换成苏联食品的罐头。然而，阿历克斯用心良苦不可能掩饰庞大的现实世界。终于，儿子以自己的方式去和母亲讲述东德的变迁。

康明斯基（加斯帕·克里斯滕森 Jesper Christensen 饰）是名震画坛的传奇画家，然而，随着年龄的增长，渐渐老去的他选择隐姓埋名离群索居，渐渐地，人们忘却了他的姓名。塞巴斯蒂安（丹尼尔·布鲁赫 Daniel Brühl 饰）是一位极度渴望成名的艺术评论家，他决定通过撰写康明斯基的传记来替自己挣一个好前程，内心里的算盘早已经打好。

Jan Nebel`s life is quite depressing and just a streak of bad luck. His former girlfriend tells him that she is HIV positive, his sister is married to a disgusting idiot and his father dies with his head on a plate of noodles. Above all, he gets into a street riot between anarchists and the police on the way to his job at a slaughterhouse. Thus, he is fired, but gets to know the mysterious Vera who becomes his new girlfriend. Together with Jan`s weird friend Buddy, they move into his father`s apartment and try to survive their Berlin everyday life...

This is my favourite German film - if you get a chance to watch 'Goodbye Lenin' and 'Berlin Nachtgestalten' as well, you have pretty much a 360 degree panorama of life in Berlin after the Wende. Superb acting, and very funny, too. The beautiful thing about this film is that the humour, being largely visual, makes it very accessible to viewers whose German isn't so fluent.

Over sixty years after the end of the Second World War, forty years after the student revolts of 1968, thirty years after the “German Autumn” of 1977, twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and, in the midst of the social upheaval caused by the reforms of “Agenda 2010” as the country moves into the globalised world of the 21st century, a group of German film directors have come together to create a panoramic impression – each from their own individual point of view – of the social and political climate in today’s Federal Republic. Each of the directors involved in this episodic film has created their personal cinematic take on present-day Germany.

A man plans to kill his wealthy wife for her money and so he can be with his beautiful young mistress. However, things don't turn out exactly as he had planned.

This film tells the sad story of a childhood somewhere in Germany in the early 60s. When Micha's mother leaves his irascible father, he tries to prevent their divorce by any means he can think of, but his attempts to hold the family together lead to a catastrophe.

The film is based on the short story Butterflies by Ian McEwan. A little girl has drowned in a nearby canal. A 19-year-old man, who lives in the same inner-city neighborhood, is the sole witness. Although he has made a statement to the police of everything he saw, the father of the little girl wants to talk to him today. The young man still has a few hours before the meeting, and lots of time to kill on this dreary Saturday. The events of the past days spring forth in his memory.
