70年代，图书推销员阿弗雷德（Javier Cámara 饰）的工作颇不得意，最近公司的上门推销业务又直线下滑，阿弗雷德面临被解雇的结局。在一次出版会议上，上司卡洛斯宣布与北欧的合作项目需要一批超8成人电影，阿弗雷德要么参与拍摄，要么辞职。妻子卡门（Candela Peña 饰）与阿弗雷德恩爱有加，却苦于无法怀孕，两人想到困窘的经济状况，遂加入了计划。阿弗雷德在据说是伯格曼助手的导演指导下进步明显，很快与妻子拍摄出了一批情趣影片。但他不久即对成人片厌倦，伯格曼的《第七封印》激发了他的创作灵感，虽然被确诊无精，但阿弗雷德专注于创作剧本无暇理会。公司拓展电影业务使阿弗雷德的剧本有望实现，在瑞典专业人员的参与下，电影终于投拍，但卡洛斯却要求加入成人剧情，为了能够怀孕，卡门执意要完成电影……
本片根据真实故事改编，获2004年迈阿密电影节最佳女演员奖等十余项专业褒奖。

车祸来得那么突然，儿子被一辆迎面撞来的汽车夺走了生命。母亲悲伤不已，决定去找孩子的父亲洛拉，完成儿子心愿。然而她却得知，洛拉已经换装成女人，当了妓女，而且染上了艾滋病。更不幸的是，修女罗萨（佩内洛普 饰）怀上了洛拉的孩子。玛努埃拉留在罗萨身边照顾她，罗萨诞下的婴儿也取自己儿子埃斯特班的名字，苦难的日子终于有了希望--这个新生儿竟然逃过了艾滋的噩运。
