上野家は末っ子の鶴夫以外は女性ばかりで、菊子を筆頭に梅子、桜、あやめと賑やかな、明るい一家である。チャッカリ者の三女桜はとうにかたずき、四女のあやめも自分で好きな男性野村を見つけ、結婚式を間近にひかえていた。ところが、言葉使いは乱暴だが器量よしの菊子、梅子は結婚とは縁がなさそうである。菊子は父の死後歯医者を開業し、梅子は看護婦兼事務係として一家を支えているのであった。母の秋は毎晩、晩酌をしては陽気に騒ぐ菊子や梅子を見ては心配していた。そのため伯父の島田と共謀して、雑誌に花婿の募集広告を出してみたが、逆にふたりから一喝を食う始末であった。だからといって菊子は別に男嫌いというわけではなかった。歯の治療に来て、バカみたいに大口をあける患者をみると、男が馬鹿にみえることも事実だが、いい男を見ればやはり心が動いた。伯父が内証で菊子のために会社の部下工藤を治療にさし向けたがきさくな梅子の方が先に意気投合してしまい、だし抜かれた菊子は一週間以上も口もきかない日があった。そんなある日、近所に引越してきた同業の大岡が、患者になりすまして梅子を射止め、永久の看護婦としてスカウトしてしまった。ひとりとり残された菊子は見合いの集中攻撃を受けるはめとなり、会っているうち鶴夫が患者として連れて来た金平教授のことが強く心に残った。彼の歯を治療中、あいも変らず煮えきらない金平に業を煮やした菊子は、合わない歯をはめ込んで、痛い思いをさせたりしたが、やがて菊子は金平教授の心を得ることが出来た。結婚式の前夜、安堵の気持と何か歯の抜けた感じのいりまじった秋と菊子に、庭の沈丁花の香りが匂っていた。...

正详谈间，忽闻赵老爹心脏病发，乡间无药可治，田中清辉自告奋勇，回营盗药。几经艰苦，田中清辉终於取得药品，赵老爹转危为安。未几天明，田中清辉终於辞别赵家，踏上归途。
