Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival are partnering once more to bring to the stage a new play by Enda Walsh. Medicine will receive its world premiere performance at the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival in August prior to its opening at GIAF 2021 in September. Medicine is the latest co-production from Landmark and GIAF the team that brought you Walsh’s Misterman, Ballyturk and Arlington.

Medicine is a dark and frequently absurdist work that shatters the boundary between cast and audience. It is a devastatingly funny and moving meditation on how, for decades, we have treated those we call ‘mentally ill‘.

This production features a sensational cast – Clare Barrett, Aoife Duffin and Domhnall Gleeson, and drummer Seán Carpio – as Enda Walsh once again shines a light on the darkest corners of our collective stories. Walsh returns with his regular team of world–class collaborators: designers Jamie Vartan [set], Adam Silverman [lighting], Helen Atkinson [sound], Joan O’Clery [costume] and composer Teho Teardo, with live drumming composed and performed by Seán Carpio.

Following his revelatory production of Ingmar Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage, the internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove returns to New York Theatre Workshop with a new production, Lazarus, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. Mr. Walsh makes his return to NYTW after the successful run of Once. Lazarus features songs specially composed for this production by Mr. Bowie as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs. Lazarus, inspired by the 1963 novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, centers on the character of Thomas Newton, famously portrayed by Mr. Bowie in the 1976 screen adaptation directed by Nicolas Roeg.

虚拟的网络，既是规避压力和痛苦的避难之所，也是人们朝向毁灭的地狱之路。17岁的青年威廉（阿隆·强森 Aaron Johnson 饰）在网上建立了一个聊天室，此后不久，伊娃（伊莫珍·波茨 Imogen Poots 饰）、吉姆（马休·比尔德 Matthew Beard 饰）、艾米莉（汉娜·莫瑞 Hannah Murray 饰）、莫（丹尼尔·卡鲁亚 Daniel Kaluuya 饰）这几个分处不同地方、彼此陌生的年轻人相继聚集于此。他们畅谈心事，尽情吐露着自己的苦恼。威廉有如饱经沧桑的智者倾听着他们的心声，却不知他的人生也渐入绝境。而吉姆的苦恼，似乎成了一切混乱的肇始……

北爱共和军领导人鲍比·桑兹（迈克尔·法斯宾德 饰）因领导反对当局的游行被抓捕入狱。在梅兹监狱中，他依然没有放弃斗争。监狱里都是六平方米的封闭牢房，这里关押着北爱共和军的囚犯，他们赤身裸体拒绝穿囚衣，以此对抗撒切尔夫人剥夺囚犯权利的法令。他们用污浊的食物和排泄物掩盖着变形门下的沟渠，以此传递消息。
通过一台蒙混过关的收音机，囚犯们得以及时了解共和军与英国政府斗争的消息。最后，在桑兹决定以绝食抗争的时候，他与神父多米尼克·莫朗（利亚姆·坎宁安 饰）有过一场精彩的辩论，然而结果却于事无补……
本片获得第61届戛纳电影节金摄影机奖。
