Scores of Puerto Rican artists have used their music to express love and pride in their island, but few do so with the same purposeful vigor as Bad Bunny. The superstar from Vega Baja is responsible for numerous songs that center his homeland, from unofficial national anthems like “Estamos Bien” and “El Apagón” to powerful posse cuts like “ACHO PR” with veteran reggaetón luminaries Arcángel, De La Ghetto, and Ñengo Flow. More recently, he’s been decidedly direct about his passions and concerns, expressed in vivid detail on 2024’s standalone single “Una Velita.” Positioned as his sixth proper studio album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS centers Puerto Rico in his work more so than before, celebrating various musical styles within its legacy.

While 2023’s nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana validated his trapero past with a more modern take on the sound he emerged with in the 2010s, this follow-up largely diverges from hip-hop, demonstrating his apparent aversion to repeating himself from album to album. Instead, house music morphs into plena on “EL CLúB,” the latter genre resurfacing later in splendorous fashion on “CAFé CON RON” with Los Pleneros de la Cresta. Befitting its title, “VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR” is set to a sleek reggaetón rhythm for prime-time perreo vibes, as is also the case for “KETU TeCRÉ” and the relatively more rugged “EoO.” A bold salsa statement, “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” pays apparent homage to some seminal Fania releases by Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe, with traces of the instrumental interplay of “Juanito Alimaña” and an irresistible coda reminiscent to that of “Periódico de Ayer.” Regardless of style, the political and the personal thematically blur throughout the album, a new year’s gloom hanging over “PIToRRO DE COCO” and a metaphorical wound left open after the poignant “TURISTA.”

As before, Bad Bunny remains an excellent and inventive collaborator, linking here primarily with other Puerto Ricans as more than a mere symbolic gesture. Sociopolitically minded indie group Chuwi join for the eclectic and vibrant “WELTiTA,” its members providing melodic vocals that both complement and magnify those of their host. Carolina natives Dei V and Omar Courtz form a formidable trio for the thumping dancehall retrofuturism of “VeLDÁ,” while RaiNao proves an exceedingly worthy duet partner on “PERFuMITO NUEVO.”

Bad Bunny has released a new song, “De Museo.”
The track begins as an atmospheric ballad, with Bad Bunny belting over nothing more than a wash of airy synths. With his vocals guiding the way, however, “De Museo” grows increasingly tense until halfway through the beat drops and Bad Bunny completes the song over thumping drums.
“De Museo” arrives on the heels of “Yonaguni,” which arrived in June and marked Bad Bunny’s first official solo song of the year. At the end of May, he dropped a collaboration with Luar La L, “100 Millones,” while more recently he was featured on Neo Garcia’s “AM” remix alongside J Balvin.
Last year, Bad Bunny released a pair of new albums, YHLQMDLG and El Último Tour del Mundo, plus a collection of previously unreleased tracks, Las que no iban a salir. Bad Bunny also announced a North American tour in support of El Último Tour del Mundo next year. The trek kicks off February 9th, 2022 in Denver, Colorado, and wraps April 1st in Miami, Florida.

Puerto Rican reggaeton star Bad Bunny is no stranger to working with Latin music icons. The “Yonaguni” singer has worked with a wide variety of stars in the past, including the likes of fellow Puerto Ricans Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, and Wisin y Yandel.
For his latest trick, Bad Bunny joins forces with Dominican-American bachata group Aventura for “Volví,” a new single that combines Aventura’s traditional bachata sound with Bad Bunny’s melodic take on reggaeton rhythms.
“Volví” comes on the heels of the new HBO Max documentary Romeo Santos: King of Bachata, which chronicles the life and career of Aventura frontman and eventual solo star Romeo Santos. When they first burst on to the scene at the turn of the century, the group broke the mold of what bachata could be simply by being a Dominican group that originated in the Bronx rather than the island country. “Volví” shows that Aventura continues to reinvent what bachata can sound like, even when they’ve been officially broken up for more than a decade.
The last time Aventura reunited was for the 2019 song “Inmortal.” The single was from Romeo Santos’ solo album Utopía, in which the King of Bachata recruited over a dozen different bachata pioneers from the Dominican Republic and gave the spotlight to those who came before him. Rather than tour in promotion of the smash album, Santos opted to perform a one-night-only concert for a record-breaking crowd of 80,000 at MetLife Stadium, complete with performances from Aventura, his Utopía collaborators, and even a surprise guest appearance from fellow Bronx-bred Dominican Cardi B for Aventura’s signature song “Obsesión.” (The concert film is also available to stream on HBO Max.)
“Volví” comes less than two weeks before the group hits the road for their official farewell tour, set to kick off in Miami on August 13th after being postponed in 2020. Bad Bunny, meanwhile, will be touring in support of his album El Último Tour del Mundo in the spring of next year, making up for lost time after he was unable to perform the three solo albums he released in 2020.

Bad Bunny has returned with a new reggaetón-infused single titled “Yonaguni,” along with a day-in-the-life-style music video.
“Yonaguni,” named after a Japanese island, marks Bunny’s first single since he released his album El Último Tour del Mundo last November. The song itself rides a mellow dance beat, while the Puerto Rican artist sings in both Spanish and Japanese.
In the video’s opening, Bunny solemnly sings the track’s introduction while eating sushi and sipping on a glass of wine in a restaurant alone. The visual quickly shifts to a montage of the artist getting ready and eating a hearty breakfast the next morning, before taking to the street with eight dogs on leashes.
Bunny then engages in a series of activities, including martial arts, controlling a toy car, playing video games, yoga and getting a “Pokémon GO” tattoo, before he rolls up at a house party. The visual concludes with an animé-style recreation of the artist as he sings in Japanese for the final verse.
According to Billboard, the music video was one of the least expensive productions Bunny has ever done as “production [was] kept to a minimum.”
It’s unknown whether “Yonaguni” will be part of Bunny’s next full-length project.
Between an adidas sneaker collaboration, performing at the 63rd Annual Grammys and becoming the WWE 24/7 champion, Bad Bunny has already had quite year. Take a look at the artist’s collaborative adidas “Forum Low” sneaker, which is set to arrive in a new black colorway.
