Rural France, the 1890s. Always in motion, Augustin wanders three times. 在表现大屠杀的影片里，《最后的蝴蝶》的特殊之处在于它并未哭诉历史，而是选择沉静的方式来叙述，同样感人至深。希区柯克的御用配乐师Alex North为本片所创作的音乐也同样效果出众。

本影片由派翠西亚·海史密斯的一部快被人忘记却相当有趣的小说改编而成。蒙冤坐牢五年的丈夫刑满释放，可回到家中，他却发现了一系列与妻子有关的秘密，旋即坠入嫉妒泥潭，不可自拔。影片巧妙地展现出被嫉妒之火毁灭的过程，悲伤的结局令人唏嘘不止。影片中男女主角的表现堪称精准，令人佩服。
