From the 1950s onwards, Erika and Ulrich Gregor brought countless film historical milestones to Berlin and shaped cinema discourse in post-war Germany. A look at the life and work of the couple without whom Arsenal and the Forum wouldn’t exist.

Die Macher des Neuen Deutschen Films wie Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder und Wim Wenders stehen für das junge, rebellische Kino der Post-Adenauer-Zeit. Die Dokumentation GEGENSCHUSS – AUFBRUCH DER FILMEMACHER beleuchtet nun die Geschichte des Gravitationszentrums der Bewegung: des Filmverlag der Autoren. Mit Zeitzeugnissen, Interviews und Filmausschnitten erzählen Regisseur Dominik Wessely und Produzent Rainer Kölmel von einem faszinierenden Stück deutscher Filmgeschichte.
Die Mitglieder des legendären Filmverlag der Autoren hievten das deutsche Kino nach Jahrzehnten wieder auf internationales Niveau. Heute orientieren sich junge Filmemacher an dieser „Rebellion der Filmemacher“. GEGENSCHUSS – AUFBRUCH DER FILMEMACHER wird am 11. Februar 2008 im Berliner Zoo-Palast Premiere feiern. Ab 9. Februar bringt die Berlinale eine Sonderreihe mit 8 Filmen im Berliner Filmkunst 66. Ab 14. Februar ist GEGENSCHUSS in Hamburg, Berlin, München und weiteren Städten im Kino zu sehen.

Though he never actually worked in Hollywood, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who died in 1982 at the age of 36, was influenced greatly by Amercian studio films of the 1950s and the convention of melodrama (the link most often mentioned is Douglas Sirk). With actor-turned-filmmaker Ulli Lommel as host and guide (he appeared in Fassbinder's very first feature, Love Is Colder Than Death, in 1969), documentary filmmaker Robert Fischer conducts a tour of Hollywood today, pausing to chat with cinematographer Michael Ballhaus and actress Hanna Schygulla # both charter members of Fassbinder's tight-knit stock company of technicians and players # as well as Wim Wenders, who found the toehold in the studio system that Fassbinder never had. The proceedings are liberally sprinkled with clips from Fassbinder's films, as well as glimpses of a theater company in Los Angeles that specializes in performing the director's plays. As Fischer makes clear, Fassbinder's influence on Hollywood is not only still being felt today, but is gathering a dramatic force that will serve to introduce his oeuvre to a new generation of moviegoers.

Nineteen people with differing degrees of visual impairment – from mild nearsightedness to total blindness – discuss how they see themselves, how they see others and how they perceive the world. Unusual images, of burning trees or empty deserts, link the interviews, which vary from deep to funny to poetic.

What is the future of cinema? In 1982, in Cannes, Wim Wenders invited many movie makers to answer this question. 26 years later, the question remains, but Wenders is now on the other side of the camera.

日本映畫巨匠小津安二郎六十載人生，走過大正、昭和的動盪混亂，見證關東大地震的傾圮與重生，親歷經濟大蕭條的辛酸苦澀和二戰戰場的腥風血雨，在社會劇烈變革的戰後，續寫中產階級家庭的緩慢崩解。人世的無常興衰，────凝結為小津電影世界的侘寂影像，在日常的反覆之間，窺見時間的無聲流變。
