《芬巴的消失》讲的是芬巴和丹尼是一对生活在一个沉闷的爱尔兰小镇上好兄弟。芬巴到外闯荡，得到一个国际有名的足球队里踢球的机会，可是人家没有用上他。他就灰溜溜地回到了家乡，未能衣锦还乡令他很沮丧，和丹尼的关系也变得糟糕了。万念俱灰的情况下，他从桥上跳下去了，就此消失了。芬巴消失后几年，他从瑞典打电话给丹尼，丹尼追寻着这个消失的邻居的声音开始漫漫行程。丹尼来到瑞典北部的斯德哥尔摩，去往拉普兰，寻找芬巴。在那儿，丹尼不进见到了芬巴，还看到很多和善的人们以及可爱的阿比，但是他和芬巴的友谊发生了变化，生活也分开了。

Finbar and Danny are close childhood friends who live in a depressing neighbourhood in an Irish town. Finbar gets the chance to play soccer in an international soccer team abroad but can't use it and comes back. He went as a hero and came back as loser. Even the relation to Danny gets worse. In an act of desperation he jumps from a bridge and just disappears. After years of missing Finbar, he calls Danny from Sweden and Danny follows this call disappearing from this neighbourhood, too. In an odyssey, Danny travels from Stockholm to the far north of Sweden, to Lappland, looking for Finbar. Up there, he does not only meet Finbar but also very nice people and the lovely Abbi. But the friendship to Finbar has changed and their lives evantually separate.

Five unmarried sisters make the most of their simple existence in rural Ireland in the 1930s.

在火車上，一群推銷員正在討論現在市道。閒談間說到了一個叫希爾的騙子，他專說提供樂器及輔導，卻在別人給了錢要樂器後便走人。有人說笑地認為他在民風頑固多疑的愛荷華州一定不能成功，躲在一旁的希爾卻突然出現，並躍躍欲試。("Overture/ Rock Island")希爾到達愛荷華便受到了歡迎，("Iowa Stubborn")並發現朋友馬些勒斯也在。深知希爾底細的馬些勒斯勸希爾不要行騙，因為精明美麗的圓書員瑪莉安一定會發現。希爾不以為忤，並以出色口才把整個鎮嚇得瞠口結舌("Ya Got Trouble")。他初遇瑪莉安，已見其利害。瑪莉安回家教琴，("Piano Lesson")，卻常常想像自己的未來。("Goodnight My Someone")鎮長夫人和其他人正爭論七月四人國慶要如何慶祝，希爾把握機會提出成立小孩樂團並得到認同。("Seventy-Six Trombones")他成功地避過教授証的檢查，("Sincere")並和鎮長達成共識。

三天後，學校依然在排練("It's You")，卻被年青人中斷，他們想學希爾教的舞步。馬些勒斯帶頭，希爾和瑪莉安跳起舞來。女士們驚訝原來瑪莉安懂得跳舞，都開始對她改觀。("Shippopi")希爾再次通過証件測試("Lida Rose")，另一邊瑪莉安也漸漸對希爾產生愛慕之情，卻把情感一直收藏。("Will I Ever Tell You")希爾和瑪莉安之弟玩得很開心，他教了一首歌，二人回家時一起唱著。("Gary, Indiana")可是，一名知道希爾底細的推銷員來了，他被瑪莉安拖延。瑪莉安告訴希爾她一早便知道他是騙子的事實，希爾深受感動。("Till There Was You")終於捉人的人來了，放過多次機會依然不肯走的希爾被審判。可他得到很多支持，結果法官判其無罪。瑪莉安和希爾自然是有情人終成眷屬，而小鎮的樂團雖然錯漏百出，卻仍使所有人為之一樂。("Finale")

Maureen's sisters have escaped into marriage and family life, but Maureen, with a history of mental illness, is trapped in a seriously dysfunctional relationship with her mother.

Pato is a middle-aged construction worker fed up with having to live and work in England, disappointed by the limitations and loneliness of his life. The day-to-day sameness is tedious also for Ray, a non-threatening "bad boy".

The glimmer of a last-chance romance between Maureen and Pato sparks up in the first act, and continues in the second one with a notable monologue of Pato. The plot, full of deceptions, secrets and betrayals interspersed with turnabouts, keeps surprising the audience. Hopes are raised only to be dashed.

In a working-class quarter of Dublin, 'Bimbo' Reeves gets laid off from his job and, with his redundancy payout, buys a van and sells fish and chips with his buddy, Larry. Due to Ireland's surprising success at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, their business starts off well, but the relationship between the two friends soon becomes strained as Bimbo behaves more like a typical boss.
