说起爵士乐，很少人听纯正的当代爵士乐。很多人只听黄金时期的Bebop、Hard-bop、Posr-bop，认为之后爵士乐就已死；有些人听当代的一些Fusion Jazz，特别是流行化的爵士乐；很少一部分的人听当代的Free Jazz。说起来，当代的一些Free Jazz倒是具有纯正的爵士乐感，而且高度自由和个性化。只是大多不那么好听，因此难以被接受而已。
其实当代爵士乐里，既属于纯粹的爵士乐、没有和流行乐去Fusion，而又有很好可听性的，还是有的。这里就介绍一张。更难得的是这张唱片录音也很好。
这就是意大利萨克斯管手Claudio Fasoli率领一个爵士五重奏在1994年录制的《Ten Tributes》。
五重奏的成员：Claudio Fasoli (长笛、萨克斯管); Mick Goodrick (吉他、电吉他); Kenny Wheeler (小号); Henri Texier (电贝司); Bill Elgart (爵士鼓)。
《Ten Tributes》的意思大致是“十个献礼”。这里的10首曲子，有些是Fasoli自己写的，有些则是耳熟能详的经典爵士乐曲，比如“My One And Only Love”、“Lover Man”、“Body And Soul”、“Like Someone In Love”等。注意这些爵士乐的“常规曲目”，Fasoli领导的五重奏给出了富于新意而又动听的演绎。这两点往往是很少结合在一起的，要么富于新意了，但难听！要么是好听，但手法陈词滥调。这里的演绎却既好听、也有新意，我觉得很不错。
简明扼要地说，这张唱片是优秀的当代爵士乐。Over。
