The series, titled Finding Home (Håbet in Danish) is set in the year 1899 and follows the struggle of a young girl who wants to break free from societal norms and become a strong woman. The naval themed series follows Marie, who lives in an orphanage with her two younger siblings. Their father has not been home from the sea in three years, and everyone but Marie believes him to be dead. Marie decides to sneak down to the harbour to try to find her father. Disguised as a boy, she boards a ship bound for Norway.
