Easy is an album released by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell on September 16, 1969 under the Tamla Records label. One song on the album, "Good Lovin' Ain't Easy To Come By", was a hit single and remains popular to this day. Terrell had been ill, suffering from complications caused by a brain tumor, since the fall of 1967. As a result, most of the female vocals on this album were performed by Valerie Simpson, who served as co-songwriter and co-producer for the LP with her boyfriend and future husband Nickolas Ashford [1] (Simpson is quoted in Ludie Montgomery's biography of Terrell, My Sister Tommie, as not having subbed Terrell for vocals). The album was released on compact disc in 1992, and again in 2001 as part of The Complete Duets.

United was the first of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's three LPs, and quite possibly the best of the lot. Harvey Fuqua and Johnny Bristol handled the productions and gave the photogenic duo a slightly harder edge than subsequent productions by Valerie Simpson and Nicholas Ashford. Three blockbusters -- "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "If I Could Build My World Around You," and "Your Precious Love" -- propelled the album to #29 on the pop charts, the highest rating of any of the duo's LPs. Plus, you had treats like "Little Ole Boy, Little Ole Girl," a remake of Loe and Joe's little-known release on Fuqua's Harvey Records in 1962. "Two Can Have a Party" grooves from start to finish and could have been the fourth hit, but Motown thought otherwise. I like the duo's rendition of "Hold Me Oh My Darling," a song Tammi first recorded on her solo album; the stuttering chorus and bass backing voice makes it unique. You won't find two better ballads than "Give a Little Love" or the often-recorded "If This World Were Mine"; written by Marvin Gaye, the starry-eyed proclamation has become an R&B standard, and rightfully so.

The Soulful Moods of Marvin Gaye is the debut studio album by Marvin Gaye, released in 1961, and the second long-playing album released by Motown. The first was Hi... We're the Miracles. It is most notable as the album that caused the first known struggle of Gaye's turbulent tenure with the label.

Together was the first and only album released by the duo team of American Motown artists Marvin Gaye & Mary Wells. It was released on Motown's Tamla label on April 15th, 1964. The album brought together the rising star Gaye with Wells, an established star with a number-one pop hit to her name (1964's "My Guy"), in hopes that Gaye would benefit from the exposure.
This album became the first charted album credited to Gaye, peaking at #42 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart and yielding two Top 20 singles, "Once Upon a Time" and "What's the Matter With You Baby". Shortly afterwards, Wells, who was frustrated with the direction the label wanted her to go, left Motown. The label had to find another duet partner for Gaye, enlisting Kim Weston for one album, (Take Two), but later yielding a longer-lasting paring of Gaye with Tammi Terrell.
