Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... (commonly referred to as The Purple Tape) is the debut studio album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, released on August 1, 1995, by Loud Records and RCA Records.[1] The album was loosely composed to play like a film with Raekwon as the "star," fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah as the "guest-star," and producer RZA as the "director."[2] It features appearances from every member of the Wu-Tang Clan except for Ol' Dirty Bastard. The album also features debut appearances for affiliates Cappadonna and Blue Raspberry. It also features an acclaimed guest appearance from rapper Nas, which marked the first collaboration with a non-affiliated artist on a Wu-Tang related album.

With years of working along side some of the most influential figures in the recording industry to date, Raekwon is ready to reemerge his urban flair with the sequel to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II features cameos from many industry heavyweights such as the Wu-Tang Clan, Jadakiss Styles P, and many others. It also features blazing tracks from the who's who of extraordinary Hip-Hop producers such as the RZA, Eric Sermon, Dr Dre, Scram Jones, Pete Rock, Marley Marl, Allah Mathematics and J-Dilla. Then, it's layered with Raekwon's melodic flows and street oriented delivery. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II will produce the dish that true Hip Hop Fans have been salivating for many years.

1993年，Corey Woods加入了纽约斯坦登岛的9人组合Wu-Tang Clan，他给自己取了Raekwon这个名字，并且还以Shallah Raekwon, Raekwon the Chef和Lou Diamonds等绰号称呼自己。同年，Wu-Tang Clan推出了他们的处子专辑《Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)》，“Protect Ya Neck”和“C.R.E.A.M.”对于嘻哈迷们可以说是无人不知无人不晓，而专辑也成为了嘻哈历史上永恒的经典之一。组合中的Method Man成为了组合中第一个推出个人专辑的成员，他的《Tical》于1994年发布。而同一年，Raekwon个人签约Loud唱片公司，并为电影《Fresh》的原声带发行了他的个人处子单曲“Heaven & Hell”。次年，他的个人第一张专辑《Only Built 4 Cuban Linx》发行，获得白金销量，尽管没有取得《Tical》那般辉煌的商业成绩，不过却获得了极高的评价，专辑内容涉及毒品交易等犯罪行为，成为了黑帮说唱(Mafioso Rap)的经典蓝本之一。而Wu-Tang Clan成员Ghostface Killah在这张专辑中几乎每首歌都有出现，他也和Raekwon一同出现在了这张专辑的封面上。 　　1997年，Raekwon出现在了R&B女子组合Allure的同名处女专辑中。而Wu-Tang Clan也在97年发行了他们第二张专辑《Wu-Tang Forever》，热卖400万张。而他还与Nas, Jadakiss和Big Pun三位纽约说唱大将客串了Fat Joe的一首“John Blaze”。1999年，Raekwon的个人第二张专辑《Immobiliarity》发布，但少了RZA制作和Ghostface Killah客串说唱的这张专辑却褒贬不一。2003年Raekwon签约Universal唱片公司发行了《The Lex Diamond Story》，同样没有获得成功。Raekwon称主要是因为公司宣传力度不够并发誓他的下一张专辑不会再遭如此命运了。 　　憋足了一口气的Raekwon原计划于2007年通过Dr. Dre的Aftermath唱片公司推出他那张《Only Built 4 Cuban Linx》的续集，专辑将由Busta Rhymes和RZA执行制作，而Dr. Dre, Scram Jones和J Dilla也会参与到部分歌曲的制作中来。2009年9月，备受期待的《Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II》终于通过Raekwon的IceH2O唱片公司发行，并通过EMI唱片进行分销，除了Wu-Tang Clan成员的参与外，大家还能见到Slick Rick, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Beanie Sigel等说唱强援的加盟。专辑获得了很高的评价，虽然与他个人首张专辑获得了相同的排行榜名次，不过在2009年的今天，却只卖出了13万张的成绩。不过这并不影响这张专辑成为美国纽约说唱圈子近10年来所推出的最棒的专辑之一。
