第二幕

直接承接第一幕，他發覺治理國家要滿足所有人不容易，他要求查馬尼王復活。就像劇頭所說的，查馬尼王復活起來，並原諒了邊邊。雖然如此，領唱人一邊說他的方向正確，邊邊卻越感迷惘。("On The Right Track")之後他又嘗試過藝術與宗教，均感挫敗。他這時遇上了寡婦卡芙蓮，("Kind of Woman")受吸引之下，邊邊似乎甘於過一些平凡的生活了。然而，作為王子他卻不想這樣("Extraordinary")，邊邊安慰卡芙蓮之子費奧，這使卡芙蓮感動並迅速戀上。("Love Song")六個月後，受領唱人慫恿下，邊邊再次尋找生命意義，卡芙蓮感落寞。("I Guess I'll Miss the Man")領唱人和眾人(除了卡芙蓮和費奧)慫恿邊邊像開頭的承諾一跳進火箱，死得轟轟烈烈。邊邊幾乎便會跳下去，卻在此時看見卡芙蓮和費奧，決定不跳了。眾演員憤怒地離台，只剩卡芙蓮、費奧和邊邊。"束縛著...但挺開心的...這樣的音樂劇結尾也不差吧。"邊邊如是說。

[到後來此劇的結尾因為被評突兀，變成了邊邊與卡芙蓮開開心心的過日子，領唱人轉移目標至費奧。]

乔治和曼迪在德克萨斯州抚养他们的年轻家庭，同时应对成年、育儿和婚姻的挑战。
