The title of Hendrix’s New York Times bestseller from Random House/Berkley refers to a Los Angeles–based therapeutic support group for six “final girls”— survivors of mass-murderer rampages whose experiences inspired the slasher franchises that saturated horror cinema in the 1980s and ’90s, earning them minor celebrity.

Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry, is more charming and handsome than she expected. Landon told Empire, “[Happy Death Day To Us] is definitely off to the side at the moment. I wish it wasn’t, and I know that [Jason Blum, producer] is passionate about it, I know I’m very passionate about it, and I know that [Jessica Rothe is really eager to do it as well. I wrote the idea for the third movie some time ago. I think we’re all excited by it, because it’s different than the other two films, and so we’re really just crossing our fingers and hoping that our fanbase continues to grow – which is something that I’ve really enjoyed watching over the years, seeing more and more people discover both films. So who knows. There might be a time when it makes sense, and hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.”
The end to "Happy Death Day 2U" sets up another sequel and if and when a third "Happy Death Day" movie happens director and writer Christopher B. Landon tells INSIDER it will be his final one in the franchise.
"There are a lot of other stories that I'd like to tell and different kinds of movies I'd like to make," Landon told INSIDER. "But this particular movie and this particular franchise, for me personally, I would only want to make three of them. The third movie would be the last one for me."
