本片标志着导演卢西奥·弗尔兹（Lucio Fulci）代表作的出现。几名男孩在意大利南部一个乡下小镇被杀害，发疯的吉普赛女人和变态的年轻女子都很可疑，嫌疑犯日益增多直至整个小镇面临着自我毁灭，这一切正是误人的宗教与迷信所致。片中骇人的暴力场景在于，当村里几名男村民要吉普赛女人为他们的孩子负责，决定亲手将她绳之以法的时候，场面可想而知的残忍。

剧情介绍：
片中的男主角是已退休的邦德爵士，正在备感无聊之际，他以前的上司M被杀，邦德乃从伦敦前往苏格兰探访M的遗孀，不料遗孀却企图勾引他，失败之后跑去当修女。邦德继续追查凶手，接触了一群形形色色的间谍，最后在皇家夜总会展开大对决。
影片中众多的噱头普遍偏于老式，但片中可称精彩的部分还不算少，伍迪第一次出场从一个形成逃到另一个刑场的段落、东德拍卖小黄色照片的拍卖会、如果你喜欢看大场面，那最后一个大混战的场面也许你会满意——真正是一场“混战”。

老邦德一路飞车，杀回英格兰自己的办公室，得知基本上己方的情报员损失殆尽，只有加勒比海联络处自己的侄子吉米·邦德从一个刑场逃到另一个刑场生死未卜。老邦德决定招收新的血液对付敌人，他要女秘书选来不禁女色的古柏，派手下用大批美女吧他训练得“生女勿近”；又通过一个江湖女强人贝丝小姐找到了发明新赌术的爱弗林，训练他成为另一个007的代表。
此外，老邦德亲自出马，找到自己多年未见的女儿玛特，要她利用身份和美色混进敌方大本营——东柏林的国际模特训练学校。玛特的母亲原本出身于这间“间谍训练学校”，玛特混了进去，很快就探听到一些秘密，并按指示搅黄了敌方代理人西维举办的一场拍卖会，搞得会场上鸡飞狗跳。
爱弗林受命与西维赌牌，西维是个牌坛高手，而且会变魔术，爱弗林和贝丝先换掉了对方的透视眼镜，然后用爱弗林的赌术大获全胜。西维派人在赌场外绑架了两人，但却被国际老千组织派来的人以赌博失败罪处死。
玛特等人被敌方派人绑架，老邦德从M寡妇那里得到消息，追上一座孤岛，反而被对方俘虏，抓进“国际老千大楼”。此时敌方的主持人诺瓦博士才正式露面，原来就是矮小滑稽的吉米·邦德。吉米告诉他们，自己要用一种药物把所有女人都变美，把所有比自己高的男人都毒死，然后利用多年制造的复制人在五天之内控制整个世界。
吉米向自己仰慕已久的贝丝大献殷勤，贝丝趁机让他服下他自己研制的另一种在体内不断爆炸的药物，然后逃出实验室。这个老千大楼成了一个混战的大战场，各路英雄纷纷杀出，从各国情报人员到西部豪侠，甚至印第安武士也纷纷亮相，最后吉米体内的炸弹爆炸，所有人都成了天使，只有吉米落下了地狱。
影片拍摄时，正是肖恩·康纳利的007大行其道之时，于是就在四部正式的007之后，有了这部“无厘头”版的007。其实，影片也是根据007之父伊安·弗莱明的原著改编，而且是早在第一部007《NO博士》之前八年就有改编版本问世的，只不过那时候007还是个电视上的小字号。
毕竟是那个时代大制作的搞笑片，影片中很多小细节虽然“笑果”不算惊人，但都是如今搞笑片中不多见的大手笔，而片中对于007系列作品的戏仿却启发了后辈们很多同类作品。像老邦德见到自己的秘书玛番妮，拥抱接吻后才得知，她是原来秘书的女儿，那周星驰的《国产007》中的同样段落恐怕就不是原创了，诸如此类的东西还很多。不过，不能不说，这部豪华搞笑片中的笑料，不是缺乏幽默感，就是有点过于老式，如今看来稍嫌温吞。
影片最大的特色就是明星云集，单导演就有五位，其中最著名的就是大导演约翰·休斯敦，他甚至还客串了片中的短命鬼M。明星中，老邦德是老牌英国绅士大卫·尼文，赌博高手爱弗林是英国“千面人”彼得·塞勒斯，像魔术师一样极富魅力的老千高手就是大名鼎鼎的奥逊·威尔斯，再年轻的有刚刚出道的伍迪·艾伦，他从这个刑场逃到那个刑场的段落之让人想起周星驰刑场脱困的那一段，而他控制世界的大阴谋也有着典型的伍迪特色。所以，即使影片稍嫌落伍与时代，但这些大明星的风采还是颇值得一看的。

Formerly, the usual UK title was THE BOGEY MAN AND THE FRENCH MURDERS. There's also a Greek video with the sleeve title, CALL GIRLS FOR INSPECTOR BOGART. The inspector is not named Bogart, nor does he get any call girls, but who cares? It's a title that sells.
There's a killer in Paris, a suicide from the Eiffel Tower, a brothel as the main setting, insane professors, an eye-ball thief, an inspector who looks like Humphrey Bogart (for no apparent reason), a truly creepy Anita Ekberg, and an impressive line-up of Euro-stars. How Dick Randall assembled this cast is beyond me, but he did it. Besides Anita Ekberg, there's Rosalba Neri (who even sings a song in a nightclub), Barbara Bouchet, Evelyn Kraft, Howard Vernon, and Robert Sacchi as inspector Pontaine or Humphrey Bogart. The title is pretty accurate. The murders take place during, before or after sex in a brothel in Paris. In between, the Bogey-man snoops around trying to track down the killer, but he is not too bright. You'll probably have figured it out long before he does.
The film's producer was American Dick Randall who took residence in Rome in the '60s but basically was wherever the deals where made, which meant Rome in the '60s, Bangkok and Hong Kong in the '70s and London in the '80s. Whilst residing in Italy, he payed close attention and decided to take a shot at the giallo as well, and produced this piece of cinematic soufflé. It's a perfect example of totally round the bend Euro-tosh, with a rather tame execution actually. The direction is not wildly imaginative, a workman's job at best, so don't expect outrageous Italian craftsmanship and style here, but some spicing-up in the editing by Bruno Mattei.
The special effects were done by future Oscar-winner Carlo Rambaldi of ET fame. I guess he learned a lot since this one. Of course, the presence of Robert Sacchi, among some other ingredients (mostly the cast) give this film a certain weird identity of its own. All together, it's pretty much a poor man's interpretation of an Italian Giallo.
The version on Mondo Macabro's DVD never existed in this form. From various copies, they assembled the longest version they could possibly paste together. There's an English audio-track, but a couple of scenes appear in Italian with subtitles.

Fernando Di Leo's "Milano Calibro 9" is an out-and-out masterpiece of Italian Crime cinema and, in my opinion, one of the most astonishing crime stories ever told. The first film in Di Leo's excellent 'Milieu' trilogy, "Milano Calibro 9" was followed by "La Mala Ordina" (aka. "Manhunt", also 1972) and the brilliant "Il Boss" (1973). The three films are not connected story-wise, but all three are excellent, and highly realistic portrayals of organized crime. As far as I am concerned "Manhunt" is (allthough excellent) slightly inferior to this one and "Il Boss" which both stand out as absolute all-time highlights of crime cinema. "Milano Calibro 9" is the best of them all, a film that is astonishing in all aspects, be it the ingenious plot that, apart from a compelling story and clever twists, includes social criticism, the performances, the gritty atmosphere and suspense or the brilliant score. I can hardly find the right words to express my admiration for this masterpiece which easily ranks among the greatest Gangster flicks ever brought to screen.
Gastone Moschin stars as Ugo Piazza, a tough and elliptical ex-convict who has just been released from prison. "Milano Calibro 9" is a film that delivers an astonishingly realistic mood of the underworld like hardly another. The intriguing storyline goes in hand with interesting characters, raw atmosphere, suspense and breathtaking action, social criticism and brutal violence. The film is simply stunning from the beginning to the end, which is even intensified by the brilliant score, a collaboration of the famous composer Luis Enríquez Bacalov and the Italian Progressive Rock band Osanna. Ugo Piazza must be one of the most charismatic gangster characters ever in cinema, and Gastone Moschin was the prefect choice for the role. Moschin delivers a brilliant performance, and the rest of the cast is also great. Mario Adorf is irascible like a rabid dog as the ferocious gangster Rocco, a role that fits him like a glove. The great Lionel Stander fits perfectly in his role of the American Mafia Don.
The two cop characters in the film are played by two of the greatest regulars of Italian genre-cinema, Luigi Pistilli and Frank Wolff (who committed suicide before the film was released). The ravishing Barbara Bouchet is astonishing and incredibly sexy in the role of Ugo Piazza's stripper girlfriend. Bouchet is both a stunning beauty and an excellent actress and this is doubtlessly one of her most memorable roles. This is also a political film and director Di Leo embedded a lot of social criticism about topics like corruption. This film simply has everything one can possibly desire in cinema. Films like "Milano Calibro 9" are the reason why I love cinema. This is an absolute masterpiece in all regards and, without exaggeration, one of the greatest Crime flicks ever made! The ingenious opening scene alone is more memorable than most films get in two hours.
