Brian Eno's second album collaboration with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster consists of slow-moving instrumentals full of repeated synthesizer sound patterns and sustained guitar notes in the ambient style familiar from Eno's collaborations with Robert Fripp and albums of his own, such as Discreet Music. One song, 'Broken Head,' features recited vocals by Eno, and on another, 'The Belldog,' he sings. On 'Tzima N'arki,' his vocal is turned backwards.

"Reflection" is the twenty-sixth solo studio album by English musician Brian Eno, released on 1 January 2017 on Warp Records. It is a single piece of ambient music produced by Eno that runs for 54 minutes in length. Released on CD, vinyl, and digital download, a generative version of the album is available as an app that changes the music at different times of the day. Reflection is an addition to Eno's series of ambient albums. Its structure is similar to that of Thursday Afternoon (1985), an earlier album of his that consists of a single track that runs for 60 minutes in length. Reflection has a length of 54 minutes. Eno decided on its title as the piece "makes [him] think back. It makes me think things over. It seems to create a psychological space that encourages internal conversation. And external ones actually - people seem to enjoy it as the background to their conversations". He considers the work the most sophisticated of all his ambient releases. On 1 January 2017, an album listening event was held at several Rough Trade shops worldwide. During the event, a "uniquely generated, one-of-a-kind" edition limited to 500 copies were available on CD that contains a signed case sleeve with a booklet.

Fripp & Eno,即King Crimson的结他手兼领队Robert Fripp加上Roxy Music的电子合成器演奏家Brian Eno,这两位各具异稟的音乐家,他们在七十年代初上旬的联袂合作,毋庸置疑是一眾英伦Progressive音乐爱好者所津津乐道的历史性时刻。
况且,当年Fripp & Eno二人就仅有合灌过No Pussyfooting(1973年)和Evening Star(1975年)这两张专辑而已,所以更见难能可贵。
那时,Eno仍作浓妆艳抹的Glam Rock乐手打扮,而Fripp则满腮浓浓的鬍子、一脸沉实,在外表上二人可谓甚格格不入,不过他们却是彼此惺惺相惜、互相欣赏的乐手。
其实他俩的合作也不仅只有这两张专辑。Eno的几张个人专辑如Here Come The Warm Jets、Another Green World、Music For Films和Before And After Science内部都有Fripp伴奏;Fripp为Matching Mole监製的Little Red Records亦有Eno客串;到了后来Eno远赴柏林为David Bowie监製Heroes专辑时,又找来Fripp担网主音结他手。那皆可见双方的密切关係。
Fripp & Eno,是二人在七十年代所留下的前卫音乐烙印。想不到跟Evening Star足足相隔了廿载,Fripp & Eno竟在这年带来他们的「复合」专辑The Equatorial Stars。其实The Equatorial Stars并非二人在廿年来的首次复合。在94年Fripp & Eno推出精选专辑The Essential Fripp & Eno时,内里已包含了全新作品Healthy Colour四部曲,可是这四首作品听来只像Eno的Outtake电子曲目而已,相当失望。
因此,The Equatorial Stars的出现,才算是Fripp & Eno睽违廿年的第三张专辑。最重要是在音乐上,也开宗明义是昔日Fripp & Eno曲风的延续。
听听Melissa、Lyra、Tarazed、Ankaa等曲目那份孤寂、憩静、萧条与勾勒出充满大自然灵秀气的天籟之美,箇中Eno营造出好比无尽星空的Ambient氛围、 Fripp哀怨寂寥的结他声,都儼如Evening Star的引伸──况且连唱片名字,也同是以「星星」为题。
Terebellum所勾勒出的漫天无际深邃星宿意像,可见是Ambient大师之出手。
在情意结底下,我想Fripp & Eno定是这年最教我动容的一个「复合」。(文by袁智聪)

Ambient 1: Music for Airports is the sixth studio album by Brian Eno, released by Polydor Records in 1978. The album consists of four compositions created by layering tape loops of differing lengths, and was designed to be continuously looped as a sound installation, with the intent of defusing the tense, anxious atmosphere of an airport terminal.
Music for Airports was the first of four albums released in Eno's Ambient series, a term which he coined to describe music "as ignorable as it is interesting" that would "induce calm and a space to think."[1] Though it is not the earliest entry in the genre, it was the first album ever to be explicitly created under the label "ambient music".
