When a Brazilian woman is falsely accused of killing a prominent Mexican politician, Marco, a young journalist, is hired by a stranger to discover the real motive of the crime. He is assisted by his photographer girlfriend María, and they are trapped in a web of torture, prostitution, corruption and power struggle.

Lucha Reyes was an unconventional, and sexually liberated woman, most famous for her "cancion ranchera" style singing. Her story begins in 1939, where at 33 she still lived at home with her mother, Dona Victora, the madame of a renowned Mexico City whorehouse. Lucha marries the liberal Pedro Calderon and then buys a beggar's daughter. She becomes the mother to this child, Luzma. Lucha craves lasting love like junkies crave heroin. But for her loyal daughter, she never finds it and in the end no one can help her.

A naïve rookie in the Mexican highway patrol must adapt in order to survive as he contends with widespread corruption, dangerous drug runners and the consequences of his often morally gray actions.

Juan Orol, was born in Galicia, Spain at the end of the XIX Century. As a child, his mother sent him away to Cuba, looking for a relative he never found. He grew up wildly and encroached in many disciplines such as baseball, boxing, race cars and bull fighting, this last career effort moved him to Mexico, where he got married and started a new life as a cop.
