スト解決後最初の東宝第一プロ作品で、四つの物語を別々のスタッフが製作した「四つの恋の物語」の第2話。 美津子は、二度目の旦那と別れて、ダンサーだった頃に知り合った有田と同棲していた。しかし、有田が絹子という新聞売りの娘と知り合って以来、自己を反省し真剣に働きたいと考えるようになったのを知った美津子は、わざと愛想づかしを言って自ら彼のもとを去って行く。

The Angry Street includes a great deal of location shooting in the rebuilt city, including downtown streets, residential neighborhoods, the campus of the University of Tokyo, and the high life of jazzy dance halls. Sudo (Hara Yasumi) and Mori (Uno Jukichi) are two university students who make money by picking up rich girls in dance clubs and conning them into giving them cash. Mori is the brains of the operation, and Sudo is the suave dancer who picks up the girls. Over the course of the film, Sudo becomes involved with three different girls and is drawn into the gangster milieu, which he seems unable to resist even though he is responsible for his mother, grandmother, and sister, Masako (Wakayama Setsuko). In this world of bad boys and girls, Masako is the pillar of strength and moral virtue who finally enables Mori to straighten out.

The third film that Naruse made in 1950, White Beast (Shiroi yaji, 1950), was described by Kinema Junpo critic Tsumura Hideo three years later as "so indescribably miserable as to haunt me even today." Tsumura represents the bulk of Japanese critics of the time, who felt that Naruse experienced a terrible slump throughout the 1940s and this film seemed to be the "bottom of the ocean." The critical establishment was clearly not prepared to accept a woman's prison film featuring former prostitutes recovering from venereal diseases, unwanted pregnancies, and estranged lovers. With its catfights, hysterical tantrums, film noir lighting, and dramatic music, White Beast is indicative of the new influences of the Hollywood psychological thriller on Naruse. Caged (John Cromwell, 1950) initiated a cycle of women's prison movies in the United States that may or may not have been shown in Japan, but the stylistics of White Beast draw on the same paranoid woman's films and film noir conventions that preceded the American cycle.

成瀬巳喜男監督が、東宝争議のなかで設立された独立プロ“映画芸術協会“から松竹へ出向して撮った作品。丹羽文雄の小説を原作に、ライバル同士の化粧品会社の競争に巻き込まれた美しい三姉妹の運命を描く。背景にどす黒い企業戦争がある点など、成瀬向きの題材とは言いがたいが、三宅邦子ら3女優の美しさは絶品。

横浜の加賀町。小高い山の上にはバイクメーカー山野モーター次期社長の座を狙う柿沼が住んでいて、妻の絹子は野心家の夫に嫌気がさして夫の部下の小笠原と関係を持っている。一方、山の斜面に立ったボロ家には、夫の隆一を仕事中の事故で亡くした国子と弟の弘二が住んでいて、国子は隆一の忘れ形見である武を育てるために中華街で賄い婦をしている。
ある日、絹子は小笠原との情事の帰り道、道路に飛び出した武を轢き殺してしまう。新車の発売を間近に控えた柿沼はマスコミ沙汰になるのを恐れてお抱え運転手の菅井を説得、彼に罪を肩代わりさせて国子には示談を申し出る。ところが、息子は菅井に殺されたと信じ込んでいる国子のもとに、たまたま事故を目撃していた老女・久子が現われ、子供を轢いた車を運転していたのは女だったと告げる。
真犯人が何の罪にも問われていないことに激怒した国子は、正体を偽って柿沼家に家政婦として入りこみ、柿沼夫妻の一人息子で、死んだ武と同じ５歳の健一を殺すことで復讐を果たそうとするのだが。

題名の示す通り、豊田四郎・成瀬巳喜男・山本嘉次郎・衣笠貞之助という4人の監督によるオムニバス作品。女学生と高校生の淡い恋心を描く「初恋」（豊田）、愛する男の心を察してわざと愛想づかしを言い、男のもとを去っていく女を描く「別れも愉し」（成瀬）、三枚目役者と踊り子の他愛ない恋を描く「恋はやさしく」（山本）、空中ブランコ乗りの命賭けの恋を描く「恋のサーカス」（衣笠）の4話からなる。
