a review of 战栗黑洞
Spoilers ahead for this film and Providence by Alan Moore. Always liked this film, but just recently rewatched it after reading Alan Moore's Providence, and I have to say, I started to appreciate it much more. There seem to be some similar concepts involved, like commentary on pop culture or the realm of ideas, that Alan Moore has been talking about for years, and its influence on the material world. Even plotwise, both stories talk about characters working in publishing, who go to explore lovecraftian America, meet a very influential horror writer and discover their role as the "herald". Of course I'm not accusing anyone of plagiarism. In any way, I find Providence to be a much deeper and complex story overall, and very underappreciated for that matter. I'm just saying, that it widended my worldview and allowed me to understand this film better.
