a review of 毁灭战士
If you can move past the fact that this is Doom in name only, this is actually a decent suspense-action movie in the vein of Aliens and Predator, except not as good of course. The story is quite intriguing and is nothing like the games, so it keeps you guessing. It's also anti-capitalist and anti-militarist by proxy, and introduces some interesting concepts in regards to the relationship between biogenetics and spirituality. Though it's still largely entertainment cinema and isn't supposed to be taken overly seriously. For what it is, the story doesn't seem to have any plotholes, and characters have believable motivations. Most action scenes are serviceable, but there's one that is pretty great and unique, and it alone makes the movie worth watching. If you want an actual cinematic Doom experience though, just watch Event Horizon. Or better yet just play Doom 3.
