a review of 英格兰的田野
It feels like this film expects you to have some knowledge of the occult. I'm not sure, because some scenes feel like straight up references to something, which I haven't seen/read/experienced. Perhaps a rewatch a couple of years later is required. Towards the end though, I started to feel like the film itself is a magical spell or contains several spells in it. The laws of space and time, life and death stop applying at some point. The ending made me question if the story could repeat itself. I think there's quite a lot of wisdom in this film, and it's definitely worth a watch for the dialogues alone, but the bigger picture seems hard to grasp for an outsider of the occult community. Or maybe this film has nothing to do with occultism, I dunno.
