Are you getting notifications from a thread that you don't care about? Do you want to stop those notifications?

You can do this by using Mastodon's "Mute conversation" feature:

1. Log in through your server’s website or web app
2. Go to a notification you’ve received from the thread you want to mute
3. Click ⋯ on the notification and select "Mute conversation"

No one will know you've done it, and it will only affect notifications from that thread.

You can make your posts much easier to discover in Mastodon searches by opting into "full text search". Once you've opted in, people will be able to search your public posts by any word or phrase in the post instead of just hashtags.

True decentralisation happens on #mastodon because it’s networked with Threads, a giant monolithic “instance” whose users are unlikely to ever leave?

I'm lucky to have made it this far in life avoiding #socialmedia sites- so why not make the inevitable misstep slightly less bad by having my first platform be the 'good' one? I'm intrigued by the lack of algorithmic mayhem #Mastodon provides, and I hope I can find some neat folks who may or may not be interested in what I have to say or post. Not sure what my experience here as a total SM novice will look like, but I'm here now. I guess.
