Estonian composer and field recordist Patrick McGinley aka Murmur makes a most welcome return to Jim Haynes' wonderful The Helen Scarsdale Agency imprint with 'Tether'. The resonant frequencies of somewhat mundane objects such as cables, fences, wires, and vents are recorded with contact mics, foregrounding an intricate, mesmerising previously hidden soundworld and transforming the ephemeral into something profound. Tip for fans of Kevin Drumm, Jacob Kirkegaard and Alan Lamb's legendary wire recordings.
Helena Tulve: Lijnen 豆瓣

发布日期 2008年11月18日 出版发行: ECM
First ECM recording from Helena Tulve - the gifted young Estonian composer (born 1972) whose work speaks in its own unique language through a variety of chamber music settings and with a fluid approach to form, sound and sonority. The album begins with her travers for ensemble, which attracted much attention at the 1998 International Rostrum for Composers in Paris and progresses through more recent works including Lijnen, with the wonderful voice of Arianna Savall. Other works feature the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet and Silesian String Quartet. Tulve has been closely associated with Estonia's creative chamber group the NYYD Ensemble over the last decade and they deliver committed performances of her work also on this album under the direction of outstanding young conductor Olari Elts.

Field Ceremony 豆瓣
Pia Fraus 类型: 摇滚
发布日期 2017年10月16日 出版发行: SekSound
Seksound releases Pia Fraus’ album Field Ceremony.
After releasing a string of singles starting in 2016, Pia Fraus are now releasing their first full-length album entitled Field Ceremony in almost a decade. Both the “Autumn Winds” and “That’s Not All” singles have been met with critical acclaim, creating anticipation for the forthcoming new album. On October 12th in the U.S. and Oct 16th in Europe and Japan, the decade long wait for a new Pia Fraus album will be over.
Released on Seksound (Europe), Shelflife (U.S.), and Vinyl-Junkie Records
(Japan), Field Ceremony is a triumphant return for the band, bringing back their signature dreampop sounds alongside fresh takes on pop structures. From the beautifully composed pop delicacies of “No Filters Needed” to the almost slowcore dreaminess of “Don’t Tell Me How” to the explosive pop of “Sugar High of the Year”, Pia Fraus bring to the table a dreampop brightness tinged with the more
somber elements of life.
Eve Komp (vocals, synths, metallophone), Kärt Ojavee (synths), Rein Fuks (guitars, vocals, percussion), Reijo Tagapere (bass), and Margus Voolpriit (drums) come together once again to produce Field Ceremony. Former member Kristel Eplik returns to record backing vocals and Pia Fraus' former drummer, Joosep Volk, also returned to direct the video for “That’s Not All”.

The album has been mixed and mastered on analog desk by the band’s longtime friend Lauri Liilvak.
The dreampop veterans in Pia Fraus are back after over a decade. Field Ceremony is a demonstration of the band’s continued contribution to the dreampop genre. Fans will be pleased with the results and new listeners will be in for a treat as they encounter this long awaited new work from the dreampop masters.
