在2001年二月，塔利班政权下令摧毁阿富汗境内所有非伊斯兰的雕像，其中包括已经一千六百年历史的巴米扬山谷Bamiyanvalley巨佛。千餘年来，巴米扬巨佛见证了阿富汗地带的历史变迁，从阿拉伯、波斯、成吉思汗的蒙古大军等，不管历将多少死亡与破坏，没有一个政权大胆地将其毁灭；如今这两尊见证千年历史变迁的巴米扬巨佛被塔利班政权炸毁，之所以让全世界关心政治、历史、宗教的专家学者痛心。
曾获奥斯卡最佳纪录片提名的瑞士导演克里斯钦佛瑞Christian Frei，在事件发生后，四度造访巴米扬，并开始拍摄《阿富汗巨佛生死劫》一片。纪录片採取多重叙事手法製作，追溯几世纪前拜访巨佛的中国玄奘大师的脚步，巴米扬巨佛被摧毁及重建过程，如何影响当地居民、阿富汗移民...并将之与自己前往阿富汗的行程并置，全片挑战不同文化、政治观点呈现。
曾经应邀来台的导演克里斯钦佛瑞表示：「看待巨佛被毁又重建本就有很多观点和争议，所以才要以多线进行的方式，来以对抗基本教义派非黑即白的绝对态度。
《阿富汗巨佛生死劫》这支精彩的纪录片，因为片长的缘故，『观点360°』节目特地安排以两个小时的特集型式，在本季的最后一集(2006/9/22)播出。经过五季65集来自全球各地优秀纪录片，透过来自不同的主题，『观点360°』尽可能的在制式的传媒声音之外，让公视观眾可以看看世界还有许多人事物值得凝视，如今藉由这支《阿富汗巨佛生死劫》划下个完美的句点，也谢谢观眾长时间来的支持及指教，希望未来的日子里，能再次提供更精彩的『观点360°』，与大家见面。

This is a brilliant surrealistic film.
But also a fully realistic story about a time when the brave avant-guarde artists were trying to explore the unknown landscapes of human possibilities.
The contrast between two realities: the poor village and the dadaist artists is shown very smart and brings the possibility of changing the world by the art.
Unfortunately, that progressive ideals of making the world better by revealing new areas of imagination, that ruled in the first half of XX century, were crushed by the war.
And, the tragedy finishes: the artistic ideals are dead, international art brotherhood also, but, as a real disaster: Yugoslavia is also dead, as a country, but as an artistic vision of nation's brotherhood, too.
So, the art falls apart

捷克斯洛伐克1972年影像大师杜桑·哈那克执导的一部黑白纪录片，是其电影生涯中最重要、最有影响力的一部作品，也是捷克电影史最重要的作品之一。拍摄完成后，因其主题过于灰暗，关注乡村中命运悲惨、失去劳动力的老人，无法通过捷克电影局的审查。捷克文化部长、诗人Miroslav Valek出面挽救了该片，将其更名为《旧世界群像》而转移了审查的压力。
这部纪录片的灵感来自马汀马伦克拍摄的老年人物肖像摄影。看似奇特的人物常隐藏着悲剧性的命运，他们因为贫穷、自私、疾病或老迈而频频挣扎，却又同时对抗着这世界。

法国人André（迈克尔·加拉布鲁 Michel Galabru 饰）和她的孙女Jeanne（朱莉·德拉姆 Julie Delarme 饰）原本平静的生活因二战的到来和德军对法国的侵占被打破，更让他们无法接受的是，他们家里的一个房间竟被征用作为一个德国军官Werner（托马斯·儒阿特 Thomas Jouannet 饰）的起居室。他们对这个敌方的军官一直保持着一种冷漠，尤其是Jeanne，她从来不和军官说话，即使是在他向他们问好的时候。让人意想不到的是，这个年轻的军官在多日的相处后，竟和他们谈论起自己的生活、音乐和法国文化，透露出他纳粹军服下隐秘的内心世界。同时，Jeanne也在积极的参与法国地下反抗德军的组织活动。渐渐地，两个来自敌对双方的年轻男女间产生了一种奇异的情感。这种情感在他们离别的时候，化成了Jeanne口中的一句话，她和他说的第一句话，也是唯一的一句话......
本片根据法国作家Vercors写于1941的同名小说改编。

公元4世纪，罗马帝国日渐衰落，在亚历山大港，多神教的智者希帕提娅（蕾切尔·薇姿 Rachel Weisz 饰）为弟子们授课。奥利斯蒂斯（奥斯卡·伊撒克 Oscar Isaac 饰）对她频频示爱，甚至在剧院大胆表白；奴隶达乌斯（麦克思·明格拉 Max Minghella 饰）也对她颇有好感，但因身份卑微无法启口。与此同时，基督教徒宣扬的自由，让达乌斯的信仰开始动摇，此举令他遭受鞭刑，是希帕提娅为他疗伤，抚慰了他的心灵。时局动荡，在多神教的挑动下发生暴乱，基督教转而取得优势，双方在亚历山大图书馆对峙。后来，接到了罗马统治者的号令，让多神教撤出图书馆，允许基督教徒进入，于是一场残酷的浩劫开始了……
本片为第62届戛纳电影节的非竞赛展映片，取景地为马耳他的里卡所里堡，这里曾是《角斗士》和《特洛伊》拍摄地。希帕提娅原定由妮可·基德曼出演，但因其在《黄金罗盘》中饰演反派，遭到基督教徒反感，因此换角。
