敖继公《仪礼集说》十七卷，旨在辨明《仪礼》经、传、记的区别，阐发郑玄《仪礼注》的疏失。《集说》征引多人的笺释成果，断以己意。敖氏按照《仪礼》各卷的主旨分段规章，每一章均拟一简短标题，以起到提纲挈领的作用。敖继公不迷信郑注，敢于质疑经文及郑玄注的讹误疏失，明代以后，其学术影响逐渐扩大，但到了清代中后期，钱大昕、王鸣盛、曹元弼等人都对其有较为激烈的批评，期间差别，只是治学风气和取向不同而已。
此次整理，以通志堂本为底本，以《中华再造善本》中元刻明修本、文渊阁四库全书本、四库全书荟要本为校本。偶有四种底本经注皆误者，据阮刻《十三经注疏》本改正。

本书为元大德刻明修本。敖继公认为《仪礼》旧注瑕疵颇多，对此学者多不察，因作此书。书凡十七卷，以朱熹之说为多，间或附以己见，于大德五年（1301）撰成此书。四库馆臣赞之曰：“则继公所学，犹有先儒谨严之遗，固异乎王柏、吴澄诸人奋笔而改经者也。” 是本扉叶题“元椠本仪礼集说十七卷”，下书“南陵徐氏积学斋藏书”一行。书中钤有“积学斋徐乃昌臧书”“南陵徐乃昌校勘经籍记”等藏书印，可知为徐乃昌旧藏。

To construct this story, the book uses a previously unknown source of inscriptions recorded on stone tablets.
