@prometheanbound Thanks. I like both series for different reasons, but I see people often treat Bayonetta like female DMC when it really feels more like it's on its own distinct design path for character action games to me. There's some crossover appeal in general (i.e. action games where you fight enemies stylishly for score), but the two series diverge from each other fairly quickly during gameplay.

Something was bugging me about my review here, so I went back to the game to double check how the dodge/defense systems work. I got an important detail wrong: dodging with Briar doesn't automatically trigger Lute's various abilities (i.e. paralyzing enemies, etc.); there's an entirely separate button you push when alert indicators pop up on the HUD in response to incoming enemy attacks if you want to get Lute's stuff to pop out. I'm so used to dodging and using the Lute "assist" button together that I imagined them as being the same input. They aren't, which makes Soulstice more distinct from Bayonetta in this regard and possibly slightly more Batman: Arkham Asylum/City (or just Rocksteady Batman in general, I imagine).

Fortunately, I'm not seeing anything else I wrote earlier about Soulstice as being noticeably incorrect.
