Pornography is the fourth studio album by English rock band the Cure, released on 4 May 1982 by the record label Fiction. Preceded by the non-album single "Charlotte Sometimes" late the previous year, Pornography was the band's first album with a new producer, Phil Thornalley, and was recorded at RAK Studios from January to April. The sessions saw the group on the brink of collapse, with heavy drug use, band in-fighting and group leader Robert Smith's depression fuelling the album's musical and lyrical content. Pornography represents the conclusion of the group's early dark, gloomy musical phase which began with Seventeen Seconds in 1980.

1998年,當時於紐約大學攻讀哲學的carlos dengler,為著連結同學間的友誼,便拉攏了懂得彈吉他的daniel kessler和打鼓的greg drudy組織樂隊,初時只是抱著嘗試心態學習吉他的carlos,明白到要全心專注才有成效的重要性,便潛心鑽研較適合自己的貝斯和鍵琴,剛巧,給daniel遇上剛從法國遊歷回來的paul banks,便引荐他成為了樂隊的主音位置,樂隊從此成型,取名為interpol(國際警察組織)。
經過兩年的閉門修練,到了2000年初,他們展開其首次演出,這時greg卻與隊員在創作上產生分歧,決然離隊,不久,鼓手空缺便由曾任職唱片店的sam Fogarino頂上,而sam那狠勁的朋克擊鼓,亦為樂隊注入更強大的節奏能量。
就此,paul(主唱,吉他),daniel(吉他),carlos(貝斯),sam(鼓),這四人構成了interpol這個固定陣營
反攻英倫
樂隊開始時,只是在紐約本土一帶的酒吧舉行演出,後來daniel認識到蘇格蘭樂隊the delgados主唱emma pollock,藉以他便送上一盒樂隊的demo給emma,emma聽後大為欣賞,便為interpol在自己主理的chemikal underground廠牌出版一張限量發行的FukdlD ep。同時,曾為oasis,mogwai,coldplay在未成名時出版過唱片的英國獨立廠牌亦看中了interpol,找他們參與clooney
tunes這張七吋細碟合輯。
近年美國湧顯了一批沾有英倫搖滾氣息的樂隊,包括black rebel motorcycle club,the strokes,the faint,radio 4,the rapture等,勻得到英國的音樂傳媒,尤其是最喜歡製造潮流的NME音樂週報的大肆吹捧,成形一股美國新勢力入侵現象,但相反在美國本土卻未必受注目。無獨有偶地,因為在英國先行試探市場出版唱片的interpol,可算遇正這片風向,亦開始引起當地的的關注,有英國音樂教父之稱的john peel,在2001年更邀請他們出席BBC電台節目表演。
雖然樂隊有出版唱片的機會,又在彼幫打開知名度,但由於仍然未有合適的唱片合約,於是便決定回歸美國自資推出同名的四曲ep,結果在2002年得到美國獨立名廠matador的垂青,成為該旗下藝人之一。
模仿者之死
若將interpol介定為joy division的模仿者,未免有點低估了他們,雖然同樣是post punk樂風,paul那把略帶沉厚而苦澀的唱腔,也難免讓人聯想到ian
curtis,然而daniel一手充滿空間感的吉他彈奏,比起joy division粗糙的音質卻細緻得多,還有甚欣賞貝斯手carlos那穩健的低音旋律(他彈bass時實在太酷了!),往往能從daniel所建築的音牆及sam緊密的鼓擊中於歇息間突圍而出。
後朋血液
從2002年首張專輯turn on the bright lights裡,亦反映出這隊美國樂隊如何吸納著精良的英國後朋克血液,歌曲PDA和stella was a diver and she was always down便如曼城the chameleons樂團那種吉他在環繞前進,節奏在疾走飛馳的速度感,ep主打作又像placebo般的尖刺沖擊力中帶著適度的echo吉他音效。
不過於我而言,更喜歡碟內幾首慢版作品,感覺也是最不似joy divison的風格,the new和leif erikson中苦惱的蒼白無力感是post punk最無病呻吟的自憐時刻,尤其獨愛另一ep作品NYC,雖然歌詞描寫的是有關人際關係,但從歌名到MV內集體上戰機的畫面,是受害者還是施暴者,對911的反思,可謂不言而喻。這是我聽過眾多後911事件悼念歌曲之中,個人認為最惹人愁緒的一首作品,曲中充滿空曠感的音效處理,營造出讓人如置身空無一人,滿目瘡痍的廢墟之中,當後段到了扣人心弦的結他鳴奏響起時,像將一切傷痛懊悔推向極點。

Unknown Pleasures is the debut studio album by English rock band Joy Division, released on 15 June 1979 on Tony Wilson's Factory Records label. The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April 1979 and was produced by Martin Hannett, who incorporated a number of unconventional recording and production techniques into the group's sound. The cover artwork was designed by artist Peter Saville. It is the only Joy Division album released during lead singer Ian Curtis's lifetime. Factory Records did not release any singles from Unknown Pleasures, and the album did not chart despite the relative success of the group's non-album debut single "Transmission". It has since received sustained critical acclaim as an influential post-punk album, and has been named as one of the best albums of all-time by publications such as NME, AllMusic, Select and Spin.

去年夏天，Interpol的主唱兼结他手Paul Banks才化名为Julian Plenti出版过他的首张个人专辑《Julian Plenti is....Skyscraper》。想不到只有一年之隔，大家便重返Interpol的岗位，带来继2007年《Our Love To Admire》后三年来的全新专辑。作为睽违三载的新作，乐团的第四张专辑就只是简单地唤作《Interpol》。
