From small beginnings in 1974 as a local cinema and university event, Film Fest Gent has grown yearly in stature and is now recognised as one of the major destinations for the film industry. A vital component is the celebration of film music in the shape of the World Soundtrack Awards which honours the very best composers at work in the world of cinema. In 2016 the award goes to one of the most brilliant composers of his generation, Ryuichi Sakamoto. This is the first overview of his remarkable catalogue of film scores, fully approved by the composer and performed by the masterful Brussels Philharmonic under the baton of Dirk Bross ©. Sakamoto was already a celebrated pioneer in electronic music and composer/pianist/singer in Japan when director Nagisa Oshima asked him to write the score for Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence in 1983 and also to star alongside David Bowie. In a 30 year plus career since then he has worked with the cream of film directors including Bernardo Bertolucci (The Last Emperor), Brian De Palma (Snake Eyes), Pedro Almodovar (High Heels) and most recently Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (The Revenant). This compilation is a fitting tribute to his status as one of the greatest living musicians and film composers.

几年前，我曾经历过一些挫折，受过一些伤害，尝过一些人情冷暖。并非遇到了什么戏剧性的大起大落，只是每个人都或会经历过的一些所谓的倒霉日子。然而人生总是要继续走下去的，后来，也就慢慢的雨过天晴。
几个月前，我偶尔打开旧电脑，翻查旧文件夹，发现了一批被遗忘了的音乐。像打开了一个时间胶囊，我听着这些音乐，过去的片段在电光石火之间快速闪回。于是我突发奇想，想将那个「失忆年代」翻出来。我知道，要解开过去的心结，唯一的方法就是要勇敢的面对它。所以我要亲自打开自己的胸膛，取出那把被遗忘已久的手术刀。
这些音乐主要是我曾为一家法国公司的“声音漫行之旅”的项目创作的大部分纯音乐的作品。有些被采用，有些没有，我也没有深究。这些音乐在我心灵创作的历程上有着标志性的意义 － 虽然，当时我的现实生活是那么的不合逻辑。

Hand Numbered edition of 300 in a hand assembled gatefold sleeve Otto A Totland and Erik K Skodvin are perhaps best known for their beautiful Deaf Center records on Type. For the first time, 'Harmony From The Past' features them working solo on the same record. The title refers to their shared history, beginning as school friends in Langesund, southern Norway to discovering they had a mutual obsession with music and computers and eventually recording incredibly bleak, yet life affirming music together. Yet their lives have diverged over the same period, which is where we find them now, Otto presenting a suite of three piano pieces - his first ever solo material - and Erik working for the first time with percussion and feedbacked electro-acoustic guitar. The results are, almost predictably, dark and mysterious: Otto's keys sounding like icy water dropping in a great hall, and Erik's 'Blind' impressively revealing a dynamic new angle to his oeuvre, one we'd love to hear him explore further.

鲜艳饱和的色泽，奇幻狂想的缤纷，片中每个画面都是美得让人舍不得眨眼的巴黎！电影上映前两个月，配乐迟迟未敲定，导演助理告诉他，有个作曲家Yann Tierson最近满红的，回家路上放来听听看吧。车子还没开到家，导演已不停惊叹：这就是我要的巴黎感觉！然而，当时年方30的Yann Tierson新专辑发行在即，无暇为整部电影作配乐，于是，导演由旧专辑挑选曲目，再加上Tierson15天之内赶工谱写的新乐段，《天使爱美丽》于是诞生。原声带迄今于法已破22万张销售！层层叠叠的钢琴、小提琴、手风琴、鼓声、口琴…构成Yann Tierson自成一格的异想世界，低吟时像打在湖面轻泛涟漪的细雨，轻盈时便化作跳动的水瓢，音符简洁短促，主旋律带出一次次变奏，旋律就这般悠然荡漾。
另外值得一提的是，Yann Tierson同时也是《再见,列宁!》(Good Bye, Lenin!)的原声作曲者。
